Abstract

The electrical lighting system has a number of lighting units (1) that are supported on a flexible cable (3) that is of a flat ribbon form and is produced of an insulating material such as a silicon elastomer. The cross section can be rectangular or oval and embedded in this are live, neutral and earth flexible conductors (4, 6). The cable and the lighting units are supported on hanger brackets (2) fixed to a ceiling. Each lighting unit stem has two main parts that are hinged above the socket section. With the parts separated the unit can be located over the cable. Internally there are projecting contact pins that penetrate the insulation and engage the conductors when the parts are pressed together.
