Abstract

A sock is provided with separate cushioning (1, 2, 3) in the toe area, the head area of the metatarsal bone and the heel area. Between the cushioned areas are thinner sections (4, 5). The sock is also fitted to the instep. This provides protection for heavily stressed regions of the foot without limiting pedal flexibility. At the same time it gives a good fit that keeps the sock from slipping.
