Abstract

The invention relates to a mechanism for a letter file, having a baseplate (10) made of sheet metal, two sorting pins (12) which project vertically above the baseplate, a folding bar (18) which is limitedly pivotable on the baseplate (10) between an open position and a closed position, an end shield (20) which projects above the baseplate (10) and is joined integrally thereto, and an actuating lever (22) which is mounted pivotably in a bearing point (24) of the end shield (20) and acts directly or indirectly on the folding bar (18). To guarantee efficient and inexpensive production, a hollow peg (30), which projects vertically above the plane of the end shield, is moulded by deep-drawing into the end shield (20), while the actuating lever (22) is mounted pivotably directly on the hollow peg (30) and is secured against being pulled off axially from the hollow peg (30). In this case, the hollow peg can serve as a bearing peg for a bearing bore (32) arranged on the actuating lever or as a bearing bush for a bearing peg (42) moulded onto the actuating lever (22). For axial securing, either the hollow peg or the bearing peg moulded onto the actuating lever (22) is to be expanded radially or thickened in the course of the lever assembly, forming a corresponding thickening. <IMAGE>
