Description
Cooling container for holding ice and salt. Cooling containers are used To increase the cooling effect, add salt as well as ice. Through the meltwater of the ice, however, there is a steadily increasing dilution of the salt mixture, so that the effect of the salt is thereby considerably reduced, and so is the ice is made to melt faster by its own meltwater. Consequently the ice consumption for such cooling containers is also quite considerable.
According to the invention, there is an extension of the cold retention of the ice achieved in that a layer of in the cooling container above the salt mixture Water-insoluble fat with a higher specific weight than water and the ice protrudes through the layer of fat and is immersed in the salt mixture. As a result of this activated layer of fat, the meltwater of the ice experiences that is immersed in the salt mixture, in the heavy one stored above the salt mixture Fat layer provides a buoyancy and is thus prevented from making the salt mixture undesirable to dilute. Rather, there is an accumulation of highly salty melt water avoiding rapid melting of the ice. It is through Constant replenishment of ice and removal of the melt water above the fat layer to ensure that the ice is constantly flowing through the layer of fat into the Immersed in the salt mixture. The drawing represents an exemplary embodiment for the application of the invention, namely in Fig. i an ice container in vertical section and in Fig.2 this ice container built into a refrigerator.
The ice container a represents a box of any shape. It is permeated by a cooler to such an extent that smaller vessels, z. B. for the production of ice cream portions, can be inserted. At one point the container a carries an overflow f at a suitable distance above its bottom a '. A layer of salt c, e.g. B. Ordinary red Salt, poured in and on top of it a layer, d of fat with a greater specific weight as water, so roughly, as indicated, with odorless, triacetin. The layer of fat is filled up to about the middle height of the cooling tube b: as with the line y-y indicated, while the upper limit of the salt layer: c by the line x-x is designated. The ice is then poured in. The ice appears due to its weight through the layer of fat into the layer of salt, as ice is known to increase in water 9 / 1o of its weight and protrudes about 1 / 1o above the surface. So that Ice does not get too much buoyancy from the resulting meltwater and except Comes into contact with the fat layer d is at a certain height, how indicated by the line z-z, the overflow finely built, the superfluous meltwater expires. If necessary, the overflow f could be deeper with smaller amounts of ice be built in or have several connections with the container a, as indicated at f '. These interconnections can expediently be terminated with taps.
The cooling tube b has the fat layer when it is filled accordingly d such a position between this and the meltwater layer that both layers interspersed approximately to the same extent, without in this regard to certain dimensions to be bound. A small touch of the fat layer with the is also sufficient Tube b or between this and the meltwater.
The ice container a is in appropriate proportions for the built for special purposes and used in the room to be cooled, such as in the refrigerator g (Fig. a), which, as usual, is accessible through its door. However, it is advisable to have the cooling tube b independently of the door g 'by its own To make door b 'accessible. Likewise, the ice box a is through one from above own Deckela 'accessible. With the help of the cooling tube b you can then without the refrigerator . To have to open, cooling effects on a smaller scale, such as for ice cream, achieved will.
