Description
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
The drying of linoleum, oilcloth, etc. is based on the oxidation of the as Linseed oil veneer serving as a binding agent. Care is taken to accelerate this oxidation to subject the firnifs to pre-oxidation by spraying them warm in hot air, exposed to air in thin layers, or finely dispersed air through it when boiling push through. Attempts have also been made to oxidize the linseed oil. to make it more suitable by being close to it Cooking certain oxides and salts that add heavy metals. Such known oxides and Salts are: black lead, lead sugar, zinc oxide, zinc vitriol, copper vitriol, manganese dioxide, oxalic acid and boric acid manganese oxide. This method has proven to be ineffective.
Inventor has now found that incomparably better results are obtained if one such bodies as chlorinated lime, chromic acid and so on. Oxygen when moderately increased Release the temperature, add the mass before spreading, bring it to the fabric and then the obtained linoleum, lincrusta or oilcloth in a suitable manner Passing heated rollers, pairs of plates or spaces, which the Vulcanisirkessel der Rubber factories are modeled on. brings the required temperature.
The difference compared to the earlier procedure is that instead of sucking. Oxygen carriers use real oxygen donors, so that the oxidizing agents are not used added during cooking, but added to the mass shortly before its use, and that one is able to carry out the whole process of oxidation in the mass applied to the tissue to undertake what is important for the quality. Of course you can too as before, part of the oxidation in Parnacott's or Walton's apparatus make.
Man takes 8 to 10 pct. on the amount of chlorinated lime used or, if one prefers blown firnifs, so-called oxidized linseed oil, linoxyn, a little less, for example 6 to 8 pCt. One can, for. B. with linoleum, at will either the firnifs on special ones "Triturate paint mills with the chlorinated lime or mix the cork powder with it, or you can use the ordinary Prepare mixing machine in one operation. Of course · you can also incorporate the oxidizing agent into the finished mass on special kneading machines. The finished linoleum mass can be processed in the same way as the ordinary mass, man it can preform etc., it can also tolerate a moderate increase in temperature to 50 to 60 ° C. It can be kept cold for a while. After rolling on, however, is recommended it is advisable to carry out the oxidation as soon as possible, since the chlorinated lime can be used for a longer period of time Storage attacks the tissue. Can the oxidation be delayed for local reasons? If this cannot be avoided, the tissue can be protected by first Rolls a layer directly onto the fabric, i.e. under the chlorinated lime layer, which
Ca (0 HJ 2 or the equivalent amount of magnesia or alumina is added to dust slaked lime. This also applies to the use of the oxidizing agents mentioned below.
Selbstverständlich kann man es auch noch nachwalzen, bedrucken u. s. w.Zweckmäfsig is rolled at about 50 ° C warm rollers, and immediately thereafter by 110 to 150 0 C. warm rolling after. The thus prepared linoleum can then be brought immediately "in the on 110 to 120 0 C. or even higher t heated. Oxidation space. ' A stay of 10 to 30 minutes is sufficient, 'To completely dissolve the chlorinated lime \ md ** : to transform the linoleum into goods that are immediately salable. Of course, it can also be rolled, printed, etc.
The duration of the oxidation depends on the thickness of the linoleum and the temperature; it is over when the fresh cut no longer smells of chlorinated lime. The impact starts below 100 ° C; but it only runs sufficiently fast over ioo °, and the faster the higher the temperature. The appropriate amount Chlorinated lime varies depending on the firnif and the strength of the chlorinated lime, when blown Firnifs also according to the amount of oxygen absorbed. The numbers shown are Middle numbers.
The linoleum obtained does not differ in color or suppleness, still durability from the best brands in the trade.
You can also use other oxidizing agents, such as. B. chromic acid, apply. The procedure is exactly as in the chlorinated lime, only heating zweckmäfsig at slightly higher temperature (120 to 140 0 C). The amount to be used is the same as that of the chlorinated lime. The work is technically more difficult because of the hygroscopic and corrosive properties of chromic acid, and the product obtained is colored green. The method is therefore mainly suitable for achieving decorative effects.
Other oxidizing agents, such as the manganese and super-manganese acid salts or lead nitrate, appear too sluggish to be technically valuable; Manganese peroxide and lead peroxide have no effect at all at the applicable temperatures.
The super oxides of calcium and barium, on the other hand, form very good oxidizing agents; the process is exactly the same as with chlorinated lime. Nitric acid can also be used, e.g. B. in Kieselguhr distributed, use, but the resulting nitrous gases are extremely troublesome and the linoleum obtained is not of excellent quality.
The process works in exactly the same way as with linoleum, also with Lincrusta, with oilcloth and similar substances which contain oxidized linseed oil as binders. In the composition of the mass, however, one must consider the nature of the matter in question Take oxidizing agents into consideration, you can z. B. not chromic acid next to black lead use.
It may also be pointed out that with an inadequately cooked one Firnifs or Linoxyn does not get good results.
