Mehrphasige Einankerumformer, beispielsweise solche, die zur Umformung von Drehstrom in Gleichstrom bestimmt sind, schützt man bekanntlich sowohl auf der Drehstromseite als auch auf der Gleichstromseite durch selbsttätig wirkende Schalter gegen Überstrom und Kurzschluß. Hierfür sind mancherlei Einrichtungen angegeben worden, auf die hier nicht näher eingegangen werden soll. Die bisherigen Schutzeinrichtungen leiden aber sämtlich an dem Mangel, daß sie zwischen einphasigem oder unsymmetrisch mehrphasigem und symmetrisch mehrphasigem Kurzschluß keinen nennenswerten Unterschied machen.
