Description
Method of manufacturing electrical capacitors, in which the active Body under the application of pressure and heat in a form with a coat of one Insulating material that becomes soft when heated is covered as good as in the manufacture of solid dielectric capacitors exclusively in such a way that one begins by rolling up and folding up or stacking alternating conductive and non-conductive layers so-called active body formed, pressed it and with a solid at normal temperature, however, soaked insulating compound liquefied by heating, then after it Solidify the body in a protective cup made of: metal, wood, an insulating one Artificial mass, cardboard or the like. Used and finally it in the protective cup by means one that is also solid at normal temperature, but made liquid by heating Potted insulating compound. These protective cups apparently make the capacitors and also have the disadvantage of any cracks, cracks or the like in the active body, by which the capacitor is known to be unusable, not externally perceptible to make, so that one can never see from such a capacitor whether it is still can be used or not.
It has also already been suggested to use the active body of pressure and heat in a form with a ': coat made of a soft when heated to be encased insulating material, in such a way that you can protect the active Body within the cavity of a two-part mold in one such, in the form a powder or insulation material used in plates and then press the two halves of the mold together with simultaneous heating, or in such a way that the active body is placed inside the cavity of a two-part, preheated form between two also preheated plates of such a Embeds insulating material, then the two halves of the mold under strong pressure and Heating to z8o to 225'C for a short time compresses the mold, the active one opens Takes out the body, cools it down, presses it anew with simultaneous heating and this alternating pressing as well as heating and cooling continues for so long until the insulating material has solidified through the whole mass.
However, compared to the one stated at the beginning, these methods have the advantage that with them the insertion of the active body in a protective cup and the potting in this with insulating compound is omitted. But you are because of that Requirement to embed the active body in the form, especially in insulating material, quite awkward. In addition to the first of these proceedings, there is another: grievance, that the active bodies are strongly heated during the pressing, which they do not is beneficial. The second of these procedures does not have this disadvantage, but instead but it is due to the repeated pressing and cooling of the active ones body even more cumbersome and time consuming.
In contrast to these known methods, according to the invention the active body using pressure and heat in a form with a coat made of an insulating material that softens when heated in such a way that that the insulating material softened by heating is injected into the mold under pressure will.
The new process appears to be considerably simpler than the one above treated, and the capacitors made according to it are also from the shortcomings free, the capacitors manufactured according to the method outlined above to have. Another advantage of the new method is that the injection the insulating compound in the mold takes only a few seconds, so during which the active body cannot heat itself up to a detrimental extent.
In the drawing is an embodiment of a device for Execution of the method according to the invention shown. Fig. Z is a vertical one Longitudinal section and FIG. 2 is a plan view after removal of the cover.
A denotes the active body, which is assumed here to have the shape of a hollow cylinder and is formed by rolling together conductive and non-conductive layers. The mold consists of a base plate B, two side parts C, which have the shape of a semicircular arc in cross-section, and a cover D, which tightly seals the cavity inside the mold. The insulating compound, made liquid by heating, is injected under pressure through holes E in the base plate B into the cavity. A pipe G, which can be closed by a tap F, is inserted into the cover D to allow the air and the excess insulating material to escape. The active body A rests on some supports L made of insulating material. During the injection of the insulating compound, the parts of the mold are held together by means not shown in such a way that they do not yield to the liquid pressure inside and do not allow the insulating compound to escape through the joints between them. A pin H , which protrudes into the cylindrical cavity of the active body A, can be provided on the base plate B. The latter is provided with two tabs J made of sheet metal for supplying and removing the current, which are in contact with the two conductive layers inside the active body.
The insulating compound injected into the mold expels the air all cavities, fills them and thus forms a layer after solidification, which wraps the active body tightly on all sides and adheres firmly to it. The mold remains closed until the insulating compound solidifies, then it is opened and the capacitor is now ready.
The cavity of the mold expediently has the shape that the finished one Condenser should have. Are z. B. Longitudinal ribs desired, so are the two Side parts C to be provided with longitudinal grooves 1s.
The active body can be coated with an insulating compound before being placed in the mold to be soaked in the usual way.
Furthermore, the active body can already be introduced into the mold before it is introduced be pressed so that it, as is often the case, for example in cross section has the shape of a flat rectangle rounded on both narrow sides.
The method according to the invention also allows several active bodies or, in addition to one or more active bodies, also one or more to use other bodies, such as B. resistors, metal parts for fastening purposes etc., and to be combined into a whole by the injected insulating compound.
