Method of saturating liquids with carbonic acid during preparation
Carbonated drinks are used to saturate the water with carbonic acid
closed vessels in which gas and water are mixed under pressure. Because of this
Mixing process, the water is saturated with carbonic acid, but also at the same time
the atmospheric air contained in the water is expelled by the carbonic acid,
which mixes with the excess carbonic acid gas. The air content of the resulting
However, a gas mixture has an extremely detrimental effect on the quality of the saturation and must therefore
be eliminated by appropriate means if possible. Now there are already fixtures
became known in which the air separation by feeding in a presaturator
of carbonic acid takes place, so that aerated carbonic acid is above the presaturated
Fluid accumulates. The excess of carbonic acid not absorbed by the water
is in these devices to the mixer back again into the presaturator
guided and receives a gradually increasing.
Luftgehalt.
Air content. A part of this gas mixture is by permanent or
Intermittent blowing removed to prevent excessive air content. the
Disadvantages of the known arrangements are that it does not succeed in the
to make the carbon dioxide to be returned to the presaturator free of air, and furthermore,
that the separation of the air from the water is the more incomplete the more
the carbonic acid is enriched with air; because that's usually about two percent by volume
The amount of air in the water is made more air-free, for example by adding it
Carbon dioxide is reduced to 0.04 o / o under 4 atmospheres pressure, but remains unchanged,
when the air content of the supplied carbonic acid has risen to about 20 0/0.
The invention seeks to remedy these shortcomings; the saturation
of the water is as in the known devices in two consecutive
Stages, carried out in a pre- and post-saturation tank. The essence of the invention
is, however, that the air excreted during presaturation together
with all of the carbonic acid from the liquid that was not used up during presaturation
is separated. To avoid excessive losses of carbon dioxide, the carbon dioxide supply
be regulated so that the carbon dioxide in the presaturation tank for the most part
is absorbed so that it collects above the liquid in the presaturator
Gas mixture the expelled air with only a small amount of unabsorbed carbon dioxide
which is removed with the air.
The drawing shows the device for performing the method
shown in one embodiment.
Gasblasen vom Wasser erfolgt.
A mixing nozzle b is provided on the bottom of a cylinder a, the
the water is supplied through the nozzle c, the carbonic acid through the pipe d ..
The head of this cylinder is designed in such a way that a separation of the ascending
Gas bubbles from the water occurs. For example, this is achieved in that a
enlarged container e encloses the upper end of cylinder a, creating an annular space
et is formed, which remains free of the gas bubbles striving upwards, so that
only water freed of gas bubbles flows into the line connected to f. That
Gas caught in container e is removed by an automatic float valve h.
The de-aerated and presaturated water becomes post-saturation through line g
fed to the container 1, which is provided with a trickle device.
