Platten aus Phenolformaldehyd- oder Harnstoffkondensationsprodukten u. dgl., wurden bisher so poliert, daß man zunächst die vom Block geschnittenen 5 oder gesägten Platten oder auch die durch Pressen hergestellten Platten, mit Schmirgel plan schliff und hierauf die kleinen Unebenheiten, die der Schmirgel hinterlassen hatte, mit in Wasser aufgeschlemmtem Bimssand entfernte. Dann wurde auf Schwabbelscheiben und Hochglanzpolierscheiben die erforderliche Hochglanzpolitur erzeugt.
