Description
Grinding of gravure copper cylinders For grinding gravure copper cylinders special sandstones are still used today; which are partly in Germany, partly in England are broken and very expensive. For years, the emery disk factories have been trying to to manufacture an emery wheel that is used to grind these copper cylinders as Replacement for the expensive sandstones or slate stones could be used. To date, however, this has not been successful. With these mentioned abrasives you can the copper can only be ground with the addition of large amounts of water. The sandstones also have the disadvantage that suddenly harder grains of quartz o. are ground free, which then produce cracks in the copper cylinder, so that - sometimes the same cylinder has to be sanded for many hours because of foreign bodies cracks appear again and again in the stones. Apart from this evil it will the ground copper mixed with water and rock mud in such a way that the Copper only to a very small percentage and by means of expensive contraceptive methods can be recovered. The present invention relates to that for grinding the copper on a specially designed grinding head, for example with a leather pad, Emery or the like is applied, creating a soft, resilient grinding wheel arises. With this grinding wheel it is possible to dry the copper cylinder to grind without cracking, so that the grinding product from dry Copper and emery or carborundum dust. This grinding product will sucked off and conveyed into a separator. Through this process is a lot faster work possible because the soft, elastic grinding wheel removes the copper does not tear open, and in addition, the ground away copper as well as the used Emery can be recovered almost completely.
