Description

Heating the insulators of an electrostatic precipitator in electrical gas cleaning systems are usually the isolators in specially heated, from the cleaning chamber housed separate secondary chambers. It is to be achieved by the fact that the Insulators, especially their surface, kept at such a high temperature ensure that no condensation deposits form on the insulators could easily cause undesired current transitions. It has also been suggested To do this, the insulators are heated by heating devices inside the isolators are arranged. It can now happen that this additional heating device for the isolators once failed for some reason and as a result one the insulators cool down too much. One already has for electrostatic precipitators Safety devices proposed that when condensation begins in the Switch off the high voltage of the gas cleaning system, in order to prevent short-circuits on the insulators, but occurs this device is only effective when the cleaning chamber itself passing gases are correspondingly moist. However, if the gases are sufficiently dry, so the devices mentioned do not come into operation if those for the isolators provided special additional heating fails. So it can, anyway, the gases are sufficiently dry in the cleaning chamber that condensation can form on the insulators form and as a result rollover occurs. The following is an arrangement shown by which this deficiency is eliminated.

According to the invention, in addition to the usual operational heating for the insulators still a backup heater is provided, which by means of a differential thermometer o. The like. Is switched on as soon as the temperature of the insulators falls below an inside the temperature set within the control range of the operating heater drops. By Switching on this reserve heating device will then switch the isolator back on heated to such an extent that it is protected against condensation.

If necessary, a signal transmitter can also be provided by the differential thermometer be triggered in a manner known per se, the operator of the system on draws attention to the malfunction so that he can eliminate it before a major one Calamity arises as a result.
