From two-stroke internal combustion engine with upstream compressor and
downstream gas turbine existing machine set with piston cooling It is known
to connect a gas turbine downstream of an internal combustion engine and the internal combustion engine
charged by a compressor. The compressor is either from the gas turbine
driven when the power of the machine set is taken from the internal combustion engine
is, or it is driven by the internal combustion engine, if this is only an energy converter
should act, while the useful power is then taken from the gas turbine shaft.
In both cases, the energy of the propellant gases leaving the internal combustion engine
further exploited in a gas turbine. In the previous version such
Machine sets produce a certain propellant gas quantity for each piston clearance
fed to the turbine, namely in the period. between the opening of the exhaust port
and their completion. During the entire remaining part of the working cycle, the
Gas turbine without connection to the internal combustion engine. It stands to reason that one
such intermittent loading has an unfavorable influence on the operation of the gas turbine
must have. This intermittent loading can be mitigated if one according to the
Invention apart from the connection, known per se, between the compressor and the gas turbine
another connection near the bottom dead center of the internal combustion piston
between the compressor and the gas turbine in the vicinity of the top dead center,
via cooling channels in the internal combustion piston that are controlled by the piston itself.
This increases the number of times the gas turbine is acted upon
doubled, so the admission is made more even. For this
Another important advantage occurs, namely the recovery of the piston heat
to achieve mechanical work in the gas turbine. Although it is also known with
Arrangements fed back a certain amount of heat loss into the circuit, however
this is small compared to the amount of heat generated in the arrangement according to the invention
is discharged in that near top dead center air through the piston
itself is passed through.
in bekannter
An exemplary embodiment is shown in the figure. In the with
Water-cooled cylinder r, the piston a is drawn in its top dead center.
The inlet duct for the scavenging and charge air is marked with 3, the exhaust duct with q. designated.
These two channels are arranged so that the flushing and loading of the cylinder
in familiar
Way goes on when the piston is near his
the bottom dead center has exposed the slots. The piston itself is with one
Cooling jacket 5 provided, which through the slots 6 and 7 with the inlet channel 3 and
communicates with the exhaust duct 4 when the piston is in the vicinity of his
top dead center is located. With this arrangement, air can pass through the in a suitable manner
`` quietly designed cooling space of the flask just at the time flow through =
where the highest temperatures prevail in the cylinder and a lot of heat in the pistons
transforms. Depending on the length of the slots 6 and 7, the .Zeit,
during which the cooling flow is passed through the piston, dimensioned so that
there is sufficient cooling. The heated cooling air flows through channel 4
to an exhaust gas turbine, which mainly depends on the piston in the lower position
exhaust gases flowing out of the cylinder is acted upon and now through the heated,
Cooling air under the boost pressure is additionally supplied with energy.
