Mercury interrupter with electromagnetically operated plunger core
There are already Oueclcsilbertrohren known in which a switching process
through the separation and reunification of mercury masses in separate vessels
he follows. For this purpose it has already been proposed inside the interrupter
to arrange a magnet armature, a vessel made of insulating material on a support bracket
which is filled with mercury. This vessel dips when the 1-magnet anchor has fallen off
so far into the mercury of the actual interrupter that the two mercury masses
merge into a single mass. Now the outside of the interrupter
If the attached electromagnet is excited, the armature is attracted and with it the immersed one
Vessel lifted so far that a complete separation of the mercury mass takes place.
Both o_silver masses are connected by an electrode introduced from the outside
each connected to one pole of a power source, so that when the armature is lowered, a current
a current interruption is caused when the armature is tightened. The well-known O-mercury interrupters
this type have the disadvantage that as a result of the attachment of the immersion vessel in one
Brackets made of conductive material provide the creepage path in every position of the immersion vessel
its wall thickness is limited. Another disadvantage of the known mercury interrupter
consists in that the magnet armature above the mercury in a special housing approach
the interrupter, perpendicular to the direction of movement of the immersion vessel, arranged
is. This has the consequence that, on the one hand, the manufacture of the glass vessel is proportionate
becomes difficult, and on the other hand that due to the support of the anchor in the glass vessel
a relatively heavy load every time the anchor is tightened and dropped
of the glass body takes place, which makes the service life of the interrupter very strong
is endangered.
On the other hand, it has already been proposed for mercury breakers that
the shape of the mercury-filled immersion cup rigidly connected to an electrode,
which is immersed in a second mercury mass, to be designed so that also
for higher voltages, the opening sparks are reliably torn off. The known
Arrangements of this type, however, also have considerable disadvantages. Thats how it is suppost to be
Immersion cup, which consists of thermally highly stressable material, with
the support electrode are rigidly connected, in such a way that the connection point
the mechanical forces when immersing and removing the immersion cup are not endangered
can accommodate. Also needs to be in motion
of the immersion cup
the carrying electrode connected to it are always moved along with it. These disadvantages
would arise in particular in the case of interrupters with an electromagnetically operated plunger core
make quite annoying.
According to the invention, based on mercury interrupter with electromagnetic
actuated plunger core, these disadvantages are eliminated in that the
Immersion vessel, the immersion core and the interrupter are arranged conaxially, and that
the immersion vessel is carried directly by the immersion core. A particularly advantageous one
Arrangement according to the invention is achieved in that the immersion vessel has an annular space
forms whose inner edge is lower than the outer edge.
Two exemplary embodiments of the invention are shown schematically in the drawing
shown in a longitudinal section.
an seinem oberen Ende ein eigenartig gestaltetes Gefäß 6 aus funkensicherem Material;
In Fig. I i means the outer glass tube with the two through
the front side introduced leads 2 and 3. 4 is the mercury filling of the
Tube, 5 the tubular iron core floating in it. This one carries
at its upper end a peculiarly designed vessel 6 made of spark-proof material;
z. B. quartz, which consists of an inner, closed bottom tube 7 and an outer
Tube 8, which is open at the bottom and fused to the tube 7 at the top, is made. That
Tube 8 is firmly placed on the iron core 5, so that it is in all its movements
must participate. The device is made so that the entire immersion body 5
until 8 emerges only a little above the level of the mercury filling 4. Will the
If the core is drawn into the mercury filling, the mercury rises above the
upper edge of the floating vessel 6 and unites with that arranged inside
Mercury filling 9. There is thus a contact between two mercury masses
instead of. The electrodes 2 and 3 are not involved because they are unchanged in
immerse the two mercury fillings 4 and g. When ascending the core
the separation of the mercury takes place at the upper edge of the float 6,
likewise again without the involvement of the two feeders 2 and 3, the invention
also achieves that a very large mercury cross-section immediately at the current transition
becomes available, as the filling 4 from all sides over the circular head of the
Vessel 6 flows over. A noticeable increase in temperature at the moment of the power cut
therefore cannot occur. In the case of power interruption, the interruption
occur only at one point where the separation of the two mercury fillings
4 and g takes place at the last moment. But this point is always a different one
Take up a position so that even with very frequent switching there is a harmful local heating
of the body 6 is not possible.
Eine weitere Ausführungsform zeigt Abb.2: Darin bedeutet wieder i
Another embodiment is shown in Fig.2: Here again i means
the outer glass tube, 2 and 3 the supply lines, 4 the mercury filling, 5 the inside
floating tubular iron core and 6 a vessel made of spark-proof material.
This vessel consists of two concentric tubes connected at the lower end.
The inner tube is shorter than the outer one. The annular space between the two
Tubes contain a second mercury filling 7. By moving the immersion body downwards
the mercury level is raised and at the same time the vessel 6 is lowered until the
Mercury fillings 4 and 7 flow together over the edge of the inner tube 8 of the vessel 6.
When the immersion body moves upwards, the o_silver passes through the inner tube
back so that the interruption between the filling 4 and the filling 7 occurs.
The fact that the outer tube of the vessel 6 protrudes beyond the inner one creates an effect
the switching fire on the inner wall of the glass vessel i avoided.
