Die bisher gebräuchliche Leinen- oder Zügeleinrichtung ermüdet bei hartmäuligen Pferden den Fahrer; durchgehende Pferde sind kaum damit zu bändigen und sie erfordert nicht nur für alle bei Pferden so mannigfach vorkommenden Abnormitäten der Kopfhaltung besondere umständliche Vorrichtungen, wie Candare, scharfe Trense u. dergl., sondern sie verursacht, weil sie stets auf dieselbe Stelle wirkt, Steifheit der Kinnbacken und Halswirbel und stumpft das Gefühl und Gebifs des Maules des Pferdes ab.The leash or reins that have been used up to now are fatiguing in hard-mouthed horses the driver; Continuous horses can hardly be tamed with it and it not only requires for all abnormalities of the posture of the head which occur so manifold in horses cumbersome devices, such as candare, sharp bridle, etc., but it causes, because it always acts on the same place, stiffness of the jaws and cervical vertebrae and blunt the feel and teeth of the horse's mouth.

Durch die vorliegende, in Fig. 1 bis 4 b dargestellte Einrichtung der Leine sollen diese Mängel beseitigt werden. Die Zügelenden der Leine α sind nicht am Gebifs-in den Trensenringen befestigt, sondern sie sind beiderseits bis zum Gurt b oder auch bis zum Hintergeschirr nach c durchgeführt, indem sie über am Gebifs angebrachte Rollen r, in Fig. 3 in gröfserem Mafsstabe gezeichnet, geleitet werden. Je nach dem Querschnitt des Zügels ist auch die Rolle gestaltet; so erhält dieselbe bei runden Zügeln eine wie in Fig. 3 punktirt angedeutete Eindrehung. Der Theil r b bezw. r c des Zügels ist mit dem übrigen Theil desselben bei d in Verbindung gebracht, Fig. 1, und in diesem Zustande wirkt der Zügel genau in derselben Weise wie ein gewöhnlicher, am Gebifs bezw. den Trensenringen befestigter Zügel. Wird die Verbindung bei d aber aufgehoben und der Zügel angezogen, so kommt derselbe in die in Fig. 2 dargestellte Lage; beim Anziehen mufs nun der Kopf des Pferdes nach abwärts gegen den Hals hin dem Zug des Zügels folgen, da der Theil r b eine Verkürzung erfährt, indem der Zügel über die sich drehende Rolle zu dem Führer des Pferdes hin nachgezogen wird. Durch die hierdurch erzielte Anschnürung des Kopfes des Pferdes wird in jedem Falle eine Bändigung des Pferdes erleichtert.The present, shown in Fig. 1 to 4 b device of the leash is intended to eliminate these shortcomings. Dieselbe besteht aus einer am Zügel befestigten Platte ρ mit Stift i und einem mit dieser Platte scharnierartig verbundenen Deckel Ar. Bei der Verbindung des Zügels nach Fig. 1 wird der Theil r b mit einem entsprechenden Loch auf den Stift i gehängt, die Klappe k geschlossen und zur Erzielung des Verschlusses, ähnlich wie bei den Portemonnaiebügeln, eine Klammer h übergelegt. Letztere steht nun an dem Aermchen 0 mit einer Schnur u in Verbindung , welche andererseits mit dem Zügel nach dem Sitz des Führers hin verläuft und hier in einen auf dem Zügel verschiebbaren Knebel, Ring w oder dergleichen endigt. Der in die Schnalle eingelegte Zügeltheil r b steht noch unter dem Druck einer Feder f, welche, an der Innenseite der Platte ρ befestigt, nach dem Oeffnen der Klappe, wie in Fig. 4b gezeichnet, den Zügel von dem Stift i abhebt, so dafs also die Lösung der Verbindung sicher eintreten mufs.
