Description
Process for the production of emulsifiable fat mixtures It has been found that unsaturated fatty acids or their esters are converted into emulsifiable ones Allow fat mixtures, such as leather fatliquors and softeners, to be transferred if them with sulphurous salts and oxidizing agents with or without the use of Catalysts are treated in such a way that quantitative sulfitation is excluded is. Particularly suitable catalysts are heavy metal compounds, z. B. the so-called siccatives used in the drying of oils, z. B. lead naphthenates, Cobalt, manganese or zinc soaps. This partial sulfitation can be either achieve that the duration of action is chosen so that only a partial Sulphitation takes place, or by the fact that the fatty bodies are sulphurous with such amounts Salts are treated so that only part of the applied fats or oils react got.
In this way, mixtures of sulfited and unsulfited, oxidized and non-oxidized fat bodies available, which are characterized by excellent Emulsifying in a weakly acidic, neutral and alkaline reaction. Excellent emulsions are obtained by simply stirring with hot water, their degree of dispersion, according to the respective purpose, e.g. B. by Choice of suitable proportions of sulfiting agents can be varied.
Trane, which is one of the cheapest fatty substances, can be used with subject the new procedure to particularly good success. Using 1/3 to 2/3 mol of sodium bisulfite per 1 mol of Tran is z. B. get a product that can be brought into a milky emulsion with water, which quickly without further additives and is completely absorbed by the leather. The fat value is much higher than that of an ordinary sulfited trans, which can be explained by the fact that once the mild treatment maintains the fatty properties to a high degree and continues the degree of dispersion of the achievable emulsions is a particular factor for leather fatliquoring is cheaper.
Example I 100 parts by weight of blank oil are combined with 50 parts by weight Sodium bisulfite liquor of 40 ° Bé and mixed with air at a temperature of 60 to 80 ° C with vigorous working through until the solubility in Water does not increase further. The length of time depends on the type of apparatus used Agitator and the degree of distribution of the blown air. Is average the reaction ended after 15 to 20 hours. A sample of the oily product is then at Dilute with water in a ratio of 1: 1 clearly soluble, when further diluting with warm water, a milky, long-lasting, slightly acidic form is formed reactive emulsion.
Work-up is unnecessary, the reaction product ceases excellent leather fatliquor.
Example 2 100 kg of neutralized, colored chrome calf leather are used run with 100 l of water at 600 C in the barrel. Then you give through the hollow Axis an emulsion of 3 kg of the sulfited Trans prepared according to Example 1 and 301 water from 60 to 70 ° C at once. After ½ to 3/4 hours of running time is the fat is completely absorbed. The skins are then treated in the usual way.
