Description

Process for regenerating vulcanized rubber The regeneration, d. H. Reclamation of vulcanized rubber is carried out according to the previous methods usual processes by chemical and thermal treatment. A real devulcanization is not or only partially effected by these processes. It is mainly about (read old material to bring it into a state in which it is easy and Can be mixed homogeneously with rolling rubber.

The procedure described below accomplishes the same goal of reuse, but in a completely different way. It deals here is not a regeneration for the purpose of incorporation in raw rubber, but rather a regeneration, which leads directly to an aqueous dispersion, which are pure or mixed with natural or concentrated rubber milk can be used. The procedure consists in (leaving the Used rubber with a suitable peptisaior together on a rolling mill or a other suitable mixing device processed. Because of the enormous pressure and the Exceptionally high friction between the rollers results in a deagregation of the rubber one, at the same time (leg peptizer is distributed homogeneously in the mass, and it becomes a product obtained, (read with the addition of water or aqueous solutions without any significant effort to form a pulpy, finely dispersed hlassc attfiiist. Possible peptizers are: loin, soap, casein, gelatine, saponin and similar substances known as protective colloids.

The mass obtained in this way is after the incorporation of vulcanizing agents and, if necessary, addition of rubber milk, ideal for gumming fabrics etc. suitable.

It has already been proposed to use rubber, optionally in crushed state, by treatment with soap solutions, possibly at the same time finite hydrocarbons and sulfur-dissolving salts, to be heated under pressure. In this way, however, one does not arrive at dispersions, neither is the process in essence something quite different from the present one; because in the one In the case of mechanical pressure exertion comes into question, in the other case of heating under the steam pressure prevailing in the treatment vessel. It is also suggested Waste rubber has been felt by treating it in colloids while avoiding pressure to (lisperse. This procedure, however, is only applicable to non-exhaustive vulcanized rubber, and moreover means the need for a colloid mill to use, in technical operation always a shock. It is also suggested have been to make the dispersion of vulcanizates in aqueous media in such a way, (leave a hydrophilic colloid in the form of a water-containing load on the tight posed Rolling a rolling mill brings and then the crushed Gradually introduces vulcanizate into the paste. In this way, however, you can fail to achieve uniform products, including because the proportionate a small amount of colloid does not spread evenly on the roller, or if one tries to remedy the evil by diluting the colloid, between the rollers flows away. Embodiment iooo g of waste rubber, z. B. red - car hose are pre-ground on a crushing mill and then on one that works with friction The roller mill was ground together with 100 g curd soap at the closest roller position. The reels are initially cold, but heat up during the process. The rubber runs after a while as a coherent skin on the rollers. After about ten minutes is the product soluble in water; it is then immediately on the roller with 30 ° 1o water made into a paste.
