Description

Process for the production of a white, transparent, pure barite In the paint industry there is a shortage of a white, transparent barite. This occurs very rarely in nature, as in most of the sites you can find the Finds mineral contaminated with metal oxides to a greater or lesser extent. One has hitherto helped by the fact that the metal oxides with the help of different acids Kind, e.g. B. sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid, converted into water-soluble salts and this removed by washing. You also have a cleaning and bleaching of Barite by mixing the ground barite with manganese dioxide and heating of the mixture with hydrochloric acid is proposed. Likewise, it is no longer new to manufacture of white barite to proceed in such a way that the barite is first added Flux mixes and glows and then a treatment with sulfuric acid and nitric acid undertakes. It is also known to use barite for cleaning purposes with manganese dioxide and hydrochloric acid to treat. However, all these processes result in a barite, which is unsuitable for a large part of the paint industry because it does not have the required transparent purity, as required by the paint industry, insofar as it produces quality goods, this is absolutely required.

The invention helps this deficiency by the fact that after the usual cleaning of the raw spate with the help of acids, eg. B. hydrochloric acid, subjecting the barite to bleaching with sodium peroxide or sodium perborate. It has been found that this bleaching with oxygen-releasing agents following the cleaning of raw spar produces a white, transparent product which can also be used advantageously in the paint industry in the manufacture of quality goods. Examples - 500 kg of heavy spar are subjected to cleaning with hydrochloric acid, which dissolves most of the coloring and contaminating metal oxides. After these impurities have been washed out with water, the barite is slowly heated up to about 98 ° C. for 30 minutes with 50 g of sodium perborate dissolved in 60 l of water. The reddish tone of the spate disappears and a pure white product is obtained. You let sit down and wash out.

2. 50o kg of heavy spar are boiled for 30 minutes after cleaning with hydrochloric acid and washing out the dissolved impurities with 50 g of sodium peroxide with the addition of water. You let sit down and wash out. A product of transparent white purity results.
