Description

Method of manufacture. of alloys It has already been suggested an iron-nickel alloy without melting through thermal decomposition of a mixture of iron carbonyl and nickel carbonyl. Yet you get that way - only a material that has coherent compact forms, but as a result of the carbon that is deposited in layers during the decomposition and carbide has only low tensile and compressive strength and is also very poor is editable.

It has now been found that high quality alloys are obtained if at least two metals separated from the carbon monoxide compounds are melted alloyed. By mixing the metals extracted from the carbonyls in molten liquid State you get a homogeneous, easily machinable material that z. B. for the production of apparatuses, contact furnaces etc. excellently suited. Particularly high quality Alloys are made in this way when iron is made from carbonyl with one or more other metals made from carbonyl, such as. B. Nickel, Cobalt, etc., is used to make the alloys. The manufacture of the Alloys cannot just be done by using the metal made from carbonyl with another metal obtained in the same way and with the one otherwise desired Alloy component z. B. with a metal or not obtained via the carbonyl Metalloid melts, but also by the fact that z. B. the carbonyl in question or carbonyl mixture directly in a melt, which the other for the desired Alloy already contains the necessary components, decomposes. It is under Expedient circumstances, under reduced or increased pressure or in inert or to work in a reducing atmosphere.

Except for the aforementioned manufacture of apparatus and contact furnaces The alloys produced in this way can be removed due to their purity Use well, especially in the field of electrical engineering. That's how you win Particularly suitable material for magnetic cores if one can choose from the corresponding carbonyl obtained iron powder with nickel powder made from nickel carbonyl in suitable Ratio melts and thermally post-treated for a short time.
