Process for exploiting the oligodynamic effect of metals
It is known that a number of metals, particularly silver and copper as well
their alloys ,. especially in large-surface form, the so-called oligodynamic
Have an effect that can be exploited commercially in many cases. Of the many
Areas of application that are in question for the exploitation of the oligodynamic effect
come, here only the strength of the oligodynamically active substances is supposed to come.
Kill bacteria and other small organisms in liquid or semi-liquid bodies,
be mentioned. The oligodynamic activation of liquids such as B.
of water to give it the oligodynamic force inherent in metals,
creates many areas of application for the exploitation of the oligodynamic effect.
The more noble metals are essentially considered oligodynamically effective metals, but they are not
on noble metals or their alloys. The iron is to take advantage of the oligodynamic
Effect, especially for the sterilization of liquids, cannot be used because
its oligodynamic effect is minimal and its solubility in water is too great.
It has now been found that those iron alloys that are considered to be rustproof
or corrosion-resistant, an extraordinarily good oligodynamic
Have an effect, because it succeeds by contact with rust-proof iron alloys
Kill bacteria and small organisms in the same way as the known ones
oligodynamically effective metals, especially silver and copper, .the case
is. In addition, the so-called rustproof iron alloys are practical in water
are insoluble. According to the invention, therefore, the use of rust-proof iron alloys
proposed to exploit the oligodynamic effect.
Of the rustproof iron alloys, which are used to take advantage of the oligodynamic
Effect according to the invention come into question, should only be named here.
The rust-proof chromium-iron alloys are suitable for this purpose,. Chrome-nickel-iron alloys,
Molybdenum-iron alloys, iron-aluminum alloys and the like, but also all others
Iron alloys, which are known to be rustproof, are used to carry out the process
suitable according to the invention.
Geeignete
Träger sind z. B. keramische Körper, Kieselsäuregel, hochporöse Tone, Kieselgur,
Asbest, Bolus, Quarzsand, Glaswolle u.dgl.
As with the more noble metals, e.g. B. silver, it is recommended to use
Use of rust-proof iron alloys according to the invention to ensure
that the largest possible surface area of the iron alloy, which is used to exploit the oligodynamic
Effect used are present. To achieve this large surface area,
you can use the rustproof iron alloy z. B. by atomization after mechanical
or electrical process or colloidally dispersed on support and
the large-surface bodies obtained in this way to exploit the oligodynamic ones
effect
use. There are a number of materials available for the carriers
of substances in question, of which 'only a few' shall be mentioned here. Suitable
Carriers are e.g. B. ceramic bodies, silica gel, highly porous clays, kieselguhr,
Asbestos, bolus, quartz sand, glass wool, etc. The application of the finely divided iron alloy
on this carrier is expediently carried out in the heat, whereby on the one hand a solid
Adherence of the alloy to the support and, on the other hand, an improvement in the oligodynamic
Effect is achieved. For example, you can prepare a ceramic mass before firing
with about 5 ° 4 charcoal and about 100% of the finely crushed rustproof iron alloy
Knead thoroughly, then shape the resulting mass into rings or other bodies
and burn at about 600 ° C. The finished bodies then contain the rustproof iron alloy
in fine distribution and over a large surface area. The areas of application for
Exploitation of the oligodynamic effect according to the invention are possible
so extensive that it is not possible to list them. The iron alloy can be in
in all cases where the nobler metals, especially the
Silver and copper, used to take advantage of the oligodynamic effect. A
a particularly important area in this regard is the sterilization of water,
other liquids or semi-liquids.
