Description

Process for the production of nitrogen-containing condensation products from acetylene and ammonia In the patent 477 049 is a process for the preparation vori nitrogen-containing condensation products from acetylene and ammonia at increased Described temperature in which catalysts are used, which consist of several .compounds which cannot be reducible under the reaction conditions, preferably oxides, but not only consist of hydratic silicates.

In this procedure, pyridine bases are obtained in addition to nitriles.

It has now been found that the yield of nitriles using the catalysts mentioned in the main patent can be increased considerably, if the flow rate of the gases is chosen so slowly that no or only small amounts of pyridine bases are formed. The gas velocity to choose depends on the chemical nature and the degree of distribution of the catalytically active Fabrics. In general, when using catalysts, which are applied to supports are, speeds of less than = o 1 acetylene per hour and per liter of catalyst to choose. For unsupported catalysts, e.g. B. by slurrying and drying obtained oxides, however, it can be increased to two to about three times provided that the water vapor content of the mixture is within moderate limits holds. In general, temperatures of around 400 ° must be maintained. Example i A mixture of equal parts of acetylene, ammonia, hydrogen and nitrogen is used at 400 to 420 'over zinc oxide and thorium oxide deposited on silica gel with a Speed of about 81 Acet @ len per hour and per liter of contact passed. With almost complete conversion to liquid products, a condensate is obtained, over 90% of which consists of acetonitrile. Neither acetylene nor ammonia can be found in the exhaust gas be detected. This fraction can be separated by fractional condensation of the small amounts of pyridine bases, can be collected directly in high purity.

Example 2 = o parts of finely divided chromium oxide are mixed with 2 parts of tungsten oxide intimately mixed, slurried with water, pressed, dried at 120 'and crushed. About the so depicted Catalyst becomes a mixture at about 420 ' of 7 liters each of ammonia and acetylene, 5 liters of methane and .40 liters of hydrogen per liter of catalyst and hour headed. The gas mixture is before passing over the catalyst small amounts of steam added. 'One obtains with a yield of about 85 0 / "based on the ammonia used, a condensate with a density of o, So5, that consists of more than 85% acetonitrile, while the remainder is made up of higher nitriles, mainly propionitrile, and small amounts of pvridine bases.
