Glass melting tank The attack of the liquid glass takes place on the
Walls of the glass melting tanks, especially in the joints between the tank bricks,
into which the liquid glass penetrates. As a result, the tub stones do not come off
plane-parallel to the faces of the stones that are in contact with the glass
on, but are undercut from the joints, so that the wall thickness at the joints
decreases much faster than at the other places on the side walls.
Attempts have been made so far to combat this uneven dissolution of the tub stones
through the narrowest possible joints using flat stones by blowing
the stones with air, and there the cooling effect because of the poor thermal conductivity
of the refractory material depends largely on the thickness of the bricks by application
The thinnest possible wall thickness in connection with blowing the joints.
The disadvantages of these embodiments are that penetration
of the glass in the joints, even with the narrowest joint, cannot be prevented
Efficiency of the cooling even when using the thinnest stones because of the bad
Thermal conductivity of the stone material is only a low and an extension
the service life of the tubs when using thin stones also by a very high one
As a result, expenditure on coolants is only possible to a very limited extent.
Tub ovens are also known in which the walls and the floor are partially through
Pipes embedded in the masonry through which a suitable coolant flows

are. This type of cooling attaches the molten glass: the walls to the
Solidification, penetration of the liquid glass into the joints is avoided,
however, there is a risk that the coolant supply is unintentionally interrupted
the pipes are destroyed or strongly attacked by the melting glass, whereby
the entire melt in the furnace may be spoiled.
The present invention aims, with sufficient cooling, under
The penetration of the molten glass into the joints is possible with the least amount of coolant required

Coolant can be introduced far enough into the joints, it is possible
to keep the wall thickness of the tubs as strong as possible. -The wide joints between
the individual tub stones are made by inserting strips of tub stone material
or achieved by using appropriately shaped tub blocks. The advantages
this arrangement is based on the fact that a flat grinding of the stones is unnecessary
and the penetration of the glass into the joints can be largely prevented,
since the coolant acts directly on the glass penetrating the joints, the
