Description
Process for separating volatile substances from less volatile ones by distillation It has been suggested that from fats or oils, such as petroleum, To expel lignite tar oil, coal tar and similar volatile substances, that liquids of an organic nature, such as gasoline and the like, or water can be added to the introduces substances heated above the boiling point of these liquids. Means in this way in the material to be distilled itself from the introduced liquid explosively generated and strongly superheated vapor, which, according to his large expansion force intimately mixed with the liquid to be treated, should exhaustive distillation can be achieved. It has also been suggested that here for the purpose of introducing the liquid in fine distribution its vapor or to use other gases as carriers. A disadvantage of this way of working is that that they require a not inconsiderable amount of energy to heat up and move of the carrier requires, which is disadvantageous for the economy of the process is.
It has now been found that you can also without the use of carriers in a simple and safe way the introduction of a liquid into one of them Boiling point heated other liquid can cause if one only part of the allows the supplied liquid stream to flow into the liquid to be treated, while the other partial flow only acts as a heat insulating agent between the one to be treated and the liquid to be introduced in order to prevent excessive heating and thus a premature evaporation of the latter is used, whereby one also for the latter purpose, feed the liquid to be introduced under increased pressure can. The application of increased pressure is due to the increase achieved with it the boiling point of the liquid also given the opportunity to introduce the Allow liquid to flow through the device at low speed, to it already within the device taking advantage of the in the the device heat the surrounding liquid to almost its boiling point, what in some cases z. B. for thermal economic reasons, to be advantageous can.
It has been found to be particularly useful for carrying out the method the device shown by the accompanying schematic drawing proved. A denotes a still into which the device is inserted with the aid of the seal B. C is installed in such a way that it is as close as possible to the bottom of the bladder enough. The tube 3 of the device C, which is provided with a side feed line 1 is at its upper end into the further pipe 4, which is provided with a discharge line 2, its lower end with a relatively narrow, centrally located outflow opening 6 supporting plate is closed, fitted tightly. The discharge through 6 is by means of a valve rod inserted tightly at the upper end of 3 5 regulated. As has been shown, this device can i.a. at the separation volatile substances from heavier or non-volatile by means of superheated steam can be used very well.
For example, the following is the distillation of a peanut oil with a content of free fatty acids: peanut oil heated to 280 ° with a content of 5010 free fatty acid is in a vacuum standing vessel into which the device described is inserted as deep as possible. With the valve closed, the device is passed under a pressure of 9.3 kg / cm2 such a slow flow of water that the draining water has a temperature of for example 1750 has. Under these conditions it can be inside the device do not evaporate water. After carefully opening the valve emerges from the inside Pipe water into the peanut oil, evaporates here explosively, and through the resulting The fatty acids are expelled from strongly overheated water vapors. After a short time the peanut oil is practically free from fatty acids.
The amount of energy used is much less than in the case the introduction of water with the help of gaseous carriers.
Naturally, the amounts of water vapor to be condensed are also whole considerably less than if, for example, superheated steam is the carrier of the water is used.
Only relatively small amounts of water or other liquids are used introduced into the highly heated material through a narrow opening, and there the supply pipe immersed in the hot material, there is a risk that the liquid to be introduced evaporated before it has flowed through the introduction opening.
In the case of the arrangement described above, this risk is now eliminated completely eliminates the need to go through the entire insertion device from I to 2 (cf. the accompanying drawing) a stream of substantial quantities of the liquid to be introduced can flow so rapidly that evaporation within the device is excluded is. A small partial flow of this powerful flow is now at the outflow opening 6 branched off, which reaches the hot material to be treated and only evaporates in this.
The present process therefore allows relatively small amounts Quantities of easily vaporizable liquids into the interior of highly heated substances without introducing the liquids before they get to the place where they are should exert their effect, evaporate.
In this way, the most diverse liquids, z. B. water, alcohol, benzene, acetone, glacial acetic acid, etc., in other highly heated liquids, such as oils, fats, tars, waxes, etc.
