Description

Process for the production of films, foils, threads, etc. from water-soluble Alkyl celluloses From water-soluble methyl celluloses, e.g. B. from ethyl cellulose solutions, Foils, films, etc. can be cast after the casting process, similar to how it was made during manufacture from gelatin foils is common. This procedure has #l downside, not to be able to be adjusted advantageously to a large-scale production.

It has now been found that alkylene film, films, threads etc. with much better success than before in large-scale production, if one in a similar way as it is for the production of viscose or hydrocellulose films It has recently become common to dissolve the alkyl cellulose from slit-like Leaves outlet openings in a precipitation bath. The property is used here the alkyl cellulose solutions to coagulate in the heat. So the procedure will Exercised in such a way that the methylcellulose solution can be discharged into hot water leaves. Instead of using chemical precipitation baths (bisulfite solution etc.), hot water is used here as a precipitation bath. The thus obtained initially opaque, still water-containing alkaline cellulose tape or the thread is then in Usually formed into a transparent film on substrates after drying. Alkyl cellulose solutions of useful viscosity are expediently used. The higher the viscosity per se, the more easily they naturally coagulate.

Under certain circumstances, alkylcellulose solutions can also be used with certain advantages use which consist of mixtures, e.g. B. partially a water-soluble per se Contains Ethvlcellulose. This makes the precipitation even easier.

Beispiele i. Examples i. A 20% solution of methyl cellulose in cold water is prepared by either stirring the methyl cell silose with an insufficient amount of cold water to produce a 20 ° solution and gradually adding enough ice as the dissolution process progresses so that at the end of the same, the solution has a dryness of 20 "/" and a temperature of about 0 to 10 ° C, or the solution is made in the proportions required for this in a stirring paddle provided with a bowl, or the 1- Lethylcelltilose with the calculated amount of water of about 60 to 80 ° C and gradually cools the mass with stirring to about 10 to 15 ° C, whereby a homogeneous solution can be achieved in a very short time. A methyl cell silose solution prepared in this or a similar manner is allowed to exit through a slit-shaped opening of 0.5 mm width, if necessary under pressure, into a bath of water at about 80 to 20 ° C. The immediately coagulating methyl cellulose tape enters one of the usual drying and tensioning devices from the water bath. A clear elastic film about 0.1 mm thick is produced.

One of the methods described in Example i is used a solution of 10 parts of methyl cellulose and 10 parts of a water-soluble ethyl cellulose in 80 parts of water and the rest of the procedure is as indicated in Example i. By setting the exit slot to different slot widths, you can Win films of different thicknesses.
