bisher auf zwei Wege
wurde <las hei der Reaktion gebildete \\@lsser
chemisch gebunden, beispielsweise durch
Calciumcarhid (Patent 164 297), was finit den
bekannten Nachteilen der Absorption von
Reaktionsgemisch durch da: Kalkhydrat ver-
bun:len ist, oder inan versuchte das Reaktions-
was>er durch Destillation zti entfernen. Hier-
für konnte man entweder die einfache
1)c<tillation finit einem t'herschuß von Alkohol
wählen, oder man konnte die Entfernun- des
Wa<sers durch eine Hilfsflüssigkeit, wie
Benzol. erleichtern (vgl. W a 1 k e r. Journ.
Soc. Chem. Ind., Vol. 111X, S. 172 _ 1921i.
Beide Wegre haben sich als wirtschaftlich un-
günsti; erwiesen. Bei der- Destillation mit
wasserfreiem Alkoliol müssen außerordentlich
grolle Mengen von Alkoholdampf über-
getrieben werden, da (1:1s Destillat ganz ge-
ringe \@'assermengen enthält. Die Destillation
finit einer Hilfsflüssigkeit ist zwar wärmewirt-
schaftlich etwas vorteilhafter. aber auch hier
ist der Wärnieanfwand für Destillatiun und

E, wurde nun gefunden, claß die L'ni-
setzting zwischen All:alihvdrox@,d und Alkohol
wesentlich günstiger verläuft, wenn man
Temperaturen anwendet, die erheblich Tiber
(lein Siedepunkt des Alkohols liegen.
Als Hilfsflüssigkeiten kommen solche
flüchtigen Stoffe in ßefi-acht, welche weiter
mit dem Alkohol noch mit dem Alkoliolat zu
reagieren vermögen, also Isohlenwasserstofe
c.:ler unverseifhare Äther.
Beispiel t
Fein gepulvertes Ätznatron wurde in der
z' ,fachen Gewichtsmenge hochsiedenden
Paraffinöles suspendiert und in Danipfforin
wasserfreier Alkohol zunächst beim Siede-
punkt des Alkohols durch das Gemisch ge-
leitet. Es destillierte ein Alkohol von o,4. v. H.
Wassergehalt ah. Sodann wurde bei gleich-
bleibender Dampfgeschwindigkeit Alkohol-
dampf und Gefäßinhalt auf 20o° erhitzt. Der
Wassergehalt des Destillate: stieg sofort auf
2,5 v. H. '--\-acll Durchleiten der zehnfachen
Gewichtsmenge Alkoho), bezogen auf die Ge-
wichtsmenge lies angewandten \ ati-itimhv(lr-
oxv<les, wurde das suspendierte ReaktlOns-
protlukt abfiltriert. Es bestand nunmehr aus
einem trockenen Gemisch von att'itlIllath\"I;it
und \atritinilivdroxv11, wobei Mehr ;il> die
1-Tälfte des Natriumh_ydrox_ydes in Äthylat
umgewandelt war. .
Die geringen, dem Reaktionspro(lukt nach
dein Absaugen noch anhaftenden Mengen
Paraffinöles sind für die Weiterverarbeitun-
nicht nur nicht schiidlich, sondern im Gegen-
teil günstig insofern, als das Reaktions-
l)i-o(Itil;t vor der Weiterverarbeitung dadurch
vor Luft und Feuchtigkeitszutritt geschützt
und somit eine Zersetzung weitgehend ausge-
schaltet wird.
Durch Behandeln mit Leichtbenzin lasen
sich die anhaftenden Reste von Paraftinöl atls
dem Reaktionsprodukt völlig entfernen.
Beispiel e
Eine Auflösung von r Teil Ätznatron und
ro Teilen wasserfreiem Alkohol wurde
destilliert. Der Wassergehalt des Destillates
betrug 0,7 v. H. Hierauf wurde die Appara-
tur unter Druck von io Atin. gesetzt, wo-
durch eine Destillationstemperattir von rso°
erreicht wurde. Das Destillat enthält nun-
niehr 1,75 v'. H. Wasser. \acli allmälilichein
Abdestillieren (les Alkohols unter starker
Deplilegmation hinterbliel) schließlich ein
trockner Rückstand, der über ()(-) v. H. des
angewandten N atriumhydrowdes in horin
von \ ati-itnniitli@-l:it enthielt.
Beispiel 3
r Teil Ätznatron wurde mit ro Teilen
Alkohol und ((,5 Teilen Benzol versetzt und
in einer mit Ringfüllung und Deplileg iator
versehenen Kolonne destilliert. Uni hierbei
(las Rcaktionswnsser zu go v. 1-1. zu entfernen,
war je ä-@1lolekül -Ätzciatron ein Wärineanf-
wand von noo Kalorien erfc,rderlich. Nun-
mehr wurde die Apparatur unter Druck ge-
setzt, so (lall bei ; At.m. LTberdruck eine
Temperatur von r35° iln l)ainpfrat"n zu 1)c#-
obachten war. Für den gleichen Umsetzungs-
;i-a(1 waren hierbei nur 3;c Kal. erfor(lc#r-
lich. Der nach Entfernung des Reaktions-
wassers verbleibende Rest von Alkohol unul
Benzol wur(le hierauf bis zur Trockene ab-
geclampft. Er bestand außer einem geringc1ll
Gehalt von '.\atritimlivdros%-(1 zu über
go v. H. aus Natriumäthylat.
Beispiel
Matt Ätznatron wurde die äquivalente
Menge Ätzkali verwen(lct tin(l ansonsten wie
in Iieispie1 3 verfahren. Die Warmcc nl-
sparung war ungefähr die gleiche wie 1)(:i
