Abstract
The method for determining the pressure tightness of a high speed rail vehicle equipped with a pressure protection system entails observing the resulting nature of at least one control variable or correcting variable of the pressure protection system when activated during a resulting disturbance of the outside pressure during travel, and then analyzing the nature of the control variable or correcting variable of the pressure compensating system with the outside pressure disturbance giving rise to it. The pressure disturbance may be the train entering or leaving a tunnel, or may be when trains cross.
