Abstract
The method involves determining a momentary or a prospective position of the vehicle (10). A digital local chip is authorized in the vehicle, where the determined position (P-1) is registered. The timeliness identification of the local chip codes a time point of a previous change of the local chip and determines whether the timeliness identification corresponds of a given timeliness requirement. The local chip is updated if the timeliness identification does not correspond to the timeliness requirement. The location of vehicle uses updated local chip. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a vehicle, particularly a rail-mounted vehicle (2) a computer program, which is stored on a data carrier and has a program code.
