Abstract

The monitoring system (1) comprises a monitoring area (100) about which a camera (10) orientates and which has a sensor (12) to capture situations in the monitored area. The camera is linked to a central office (30) where the transmitted images from the camera are ascertained. The central office has a communication unit (32) which can trigger an emergency message as a result of the transmitted images. The camera is connected to the central office via a communications network (50) which is managed via an IP network. The camera has a rotary store (19a) for cyclic showing of intermediate images of the monitored area.
