Abstract

The protective layer comprises a flexible flat surface support substrate (4) and several flat surface elements (5) spread out over the surface of the substrate and having a greater cutting resistance than the substrate. The flat surface elements are arranged off-set from each other so that in a projection of boundary lines running between two adjacent elements there are further elements to break up the projection of the boundary lines over the surface of the substrate. All the flat surface elements can have the same shape and can be arranged side by side without any overlap.
