Abstract
The invention relates to a multi-stage diaphragm-type compressor (100) and to a method for the multi-stage compression of gases. At least two piston-cylinder units arranged at equal angular intervals from each other around the axis of rotation of a camshaft or eccentric shaft (18). The cylinders (7) are connected to a sump (14) containing a liquid, so that they can be filled with a liquid via supply lines (24, 25, 26, 27) in which return valves (28) are provided. The cylinders (7) are also separated from chambers (8) by a membrane (5) to which a gas inlet and a gas outlet (10) with a return valve, respectively are joined. The individual compressor stages are each formed by a piston-cylinder unit with a membrane (5) and a chamber.
