Abstract
The control drive has meshing toothed gears (13,17) located on a carrier unit (9) fastened to the engine housing. The carrier unit is fastened directly to the housing via a rigid screw connection (19) in an area on the crankshaft side, and in an area away from the crankshaft, fastening is via a clearance compensation element (21). The carrier unit is formed by two plates (11) enclosing the gears. It consists of a material, which has approx. the same heat expansion characteristics of the material of the bearing web.
