52.The distribution valve shown is intended for a four-cylinder two-stroke engine. In a housing 3o it contains a bushing 31 which forms a guide for the distribution slide. In the housing there is a chamber extending around the sleeve. 32 is provided, which can be connected to a container for compressed air or to a compressor by means of a pipe 33. In the housing 30 four distribution chambers 34, 35, 36 and 37 are provided, which are arranged at intervals of go ° from one another and are connected by means of the tubes 29, 40, 41 and 42 to one of the associated pneumatic devices for controlling the starting valves of the working cylinders . The control channels 34 to 37 extend in the longitudinal direction of the housing and terminate in openings of the sleeve 31. The distribution slide contains two piston-like parts fitting tightly into the housing, namely an outer 43 and an inner 44. In these are channels or chambers for distributing the Compressed air is provided on the channels 34 to 37 and for discharging the air. The chamber 45 located between the pistons 43 and 44 is permanently in communication with the compressed air chamber through openings 46 in the sleeve. From the end of the piston 44 delimiting the chamber 45, two channels 47 and 48 extend in the longitudinal direction of the piston; these channels are each connected to a chamber 49 and 50 provided in the lateral surface of the piston 44 . On the opposite side of the piston 44, two similar chambers 51 and 52 are provided, which are in communication with a common longitudinal channel 53 and lead to the right end of the piston 44 and to an outlet opening 54 provided therein. The distribution slide works in the following way: The slide is driven by the crankshaft of the machine at the same speed as the crankshaft. In addition, the distribution slide can be moved in its longitudinal direction, which is done by means of a hand lever (not shown). If the piston valve is in the position shown in Fig. Z, and if it is driven in the direction of the arrow shown in Fig. 2, it connects the compressed air sensor through channel 47 and chamber 49 alternately with the mouths of channels 34 on the left to 37 and thus with the compressed air devices, so that the starter valves are opened in the correct sequence and let compressed air into the four working cylinders. At the same time, the chamber 51 goes past the right-hand ends of the distribution channels and lets the air from the pressurized air devices in turn escape through the channels 53 so that the starter valves are closed. In this way, each working piston is driven by compressed air after it has passed its inner dead position located in the middle, so that the machine starts up in one direction of rotation. Since in multi-cylinder machines there is always one of the cranks and the corresponding piston between its inner and outer dead center, the machines can always be started by letting in the compressed air, regardless of the position in which the machine was stopped. This is due to the adjustment of the distribution slide and the fact that its three-digit match that of the crankshaft first on the named piston and then on the other pistons. To start the machine in the opposite direction of rotation or to reverse the direction of rotation, the distribution slide is displaced in its longitudinal direction so that the chamber 5o reaches the left-hand ends of the channels 34 to 37 and the chamber 52 the right-hand ends of these channels opposite. Then the chambers 50 and 52 work in the same way as the chambers 49 and 51 before, while the distribution slide is driven in the opposite direction as before. As can be seen from Fig.2, the chamber 5o is arranged to the side of the chamber 49, and its position is chosen so that the chamber 5o through the channel 48 through the compressed air receiver with the distribution channels 34 to 37 and with the compressed air devices in correct succession connects when the working pistons have exceeded the inner dead center in a direction opposite to that in which the chamber 49 was effective. For this reason, the compressed air is first admitted through the chamber 50 into the compressed air device of that working cylinder whose crank is between the dead centers on the opposite side of the crankshaft compared to the case described first. The chambers 51 and 52 have a similar arrangement.
The invention can also be applied to multi-cylinder machines with another
Number of working cylinders than four can be applied.
