Cutting tool for parting off and for cutting into narrow grooves
The invention relates to cutting steels for parting and cutting
of narrow grooves with a cutting edge that cannot be detached from the steel, in particular
a cutting edge made of a hard alloy (tungsten carbide alloy or the like), and aims to
to train these steels in such a way that they are characterized by particularly low wear and tear
characterized by increased cutting performance. According to the invention this is achieved by
that the cutting edge merges with rounded corners into the side edges of the chest surface
and the chest surface is so hollow in the entire area of the cutting edge,
that a favorable cutting angle is available along the entire length of the cutting edge.
It should be noted that steels are already known in which the cutting edge is either
runs circular or angular or has rounded corners and the chest surface
is so hollow in the entire area of the cutting edge that over the entire length
the cutting edge has a favorable cutting angle. However, these steels are
not suitable for parting or cutting into narrow grooves.
In the drawing, Fig. I shows a plan view of the chest surface
of a known steel, Fig.2 the corresponding side view, Fig. 3 one of the Fig.
i corresponding representation of an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention
forming steel, Fig. a. the associated side view and Fig. 5 a section
along line 5-5 of Fig. 3, seen in the direction of arrow x.
In the known steel shown in Fig. I and 2, the cutting edge goes
i in sharp corners in the side edges: z the chest surface 3 over. With steels this
Art has shown that sharp corners wear out quickly
is associated with a considerable reduction in cutting performance.
This drawback is the invention according to the from Fig. 3 to
5 obvious manner avoided in which the corresponding reference numerals are used
are as in Fig. i and 2. The cutting edge i, which is expediently directed towards the center in the
from Fig. 3 is a bit pointed way, goes here with more or less
strongly rounded corners .4 into the side edges z over, and the chest surface is 3,
as can be seen in particular in Fig. 5, so hollow that in the entire area
the cutting edge, i.e. including the rounded corners q., a favorable cutting
or; Sharpening angle a is available. As a result of this fact also takes place
a perfect cut at the rounded corners, reducing the wear and tear on the steel
- is significantly reduced and the cutting performance is significantly increased.
The invention is of particular importance for high-speed steels,
and in particular for such steels of this type, their cutting part
a hard alloy (tungsten carbide alloy o. The like.) There is only one of the
Invention corresponding training of these steels, the full exploitation of their performance
is possible with the least amount of wear.
The tapering of the cutting edge according to Fig. 3 still gives the special one
Advantage that the steel receives a reliable guide during parting, whereby
the previous use of a roughing tool is no longer necessary.
