Process in which to produce gas-tight electrode entries

Welding parts to be attached to platinum pots serving as an introduction The introduction
of electrodes in vacuum vessels made of glass, such as those used for rectifier tubes
is carried out at higher currents in such a way that a platinum
The rim of the existing pot is closed in the opening of the glass vessel
and at the bottom of the pot on the one hand the inner electrode, on the other hand the outer one
Supply line is soldered or welded on. With this procedure, however, it was
so far not possible to produce an introduction that does not gradually go through the

made of iron a quick destruction of the solder joint. Apart from that, too
otherwise a gas leak in the # tube has often been noticed.
verringert.According to the invention, the connection of the pot with the two
. to be attached parts not by means of the previously common butt welding, but
effected by means of so-called spot welding, d. H. it is carried out by means of suitable,
an electric current through the electrodes due to their dimensioning of the electrodes which remain cool
surfaces that are welded to one another, in such a way that only these surfaces or
Points get sweaty. The connection is made by pressing the
sweat-warmed surfaces. With such a weld the heating is
limited to only a small part of the platinum pot, and it takes place after shutdown
of the current, which only needs to act for a very short time, is a quick discharge
the heat in the cool mass of the lead electrodes instead, so that a
Destruction (perforation) of the thin platinum pot bottom at the welding point not,
as with ordinary welding. Preventing such perforations
is particularly important for rectifiers because it gradually increases if the bottom of the pot is not completely intact
seizure occurs as a result of the action of the mercury, even if the welding point
was gas-tight in the beginning. The method according to the invention thus ensures the
Rectifier tube, which is an expensive device as a high-voltage tube, a
longer service life or unlimited service life with regard to the welding point. It enables
In addition, the use of hollow electrode holders, which are lightweight and have great stability

eliminates the risk of destruction during welding. On the whole, the manufacturing committee

-i (Abb. i, 2, 5) und die hohle Außenzuleitung a (Abb. 5) bestehen beispielsweise
aufgesetzt.
The invention is shown schematically in the figures using several examples
shown. With p is the platinum pot, with i in Fig.r, z and 5 a hollow electrode holder,
in Fig. 3 and 4 a full electrode, with a in Fig.2
and d. a full
External supply line, denoted in Fig. 5 as a hollow external supply line. The hollow holder
-i (Fig. i, 2, 5) and the hollow outer feed line a (Fig. 5) exist for example
made of bent sheet metal strips. In the case of Fig. 5, these will be the welding current
feeding electrodes are inserted into the hollow parts a, i and on the bottom of the same
put on. The current goes through these two floors at the same time and the ones in between
Bottom of the platinum pot and welds all three together at the same time.
die Trennungsstellen zwischen i, p, a erwärmt. In Fig. 4. both parts to be welded to the pot p are solid bodies. Here, too, spot welding takes place in that the electrical current mainly heats the points of separation between i, p, a.
gemäß Abb. i bzw.
In general, all three parts can be welded together at the same time
be, or it can - which is already compared to speeding up the process
serves to the usual - first the one part, namely i by means of spot welding,
then .the other part a can be added by soldering or butt welding.
The latter method is shown in Figs. I and 2 for the case of a hollow electrode
i, in Fig. 3 and d. indicated for the case of a full electrode i. First will
according to Fig. i or Fig. 2 of the conductor i by spot welding with the bottom of the platinum pot

i and p are placed, and then the outer lead a by means of soldering or
