Der Wasserstandszeiger wird auf dem Fufsboden im Pumphause nahe an der Wand aufgestellt, die ca. 3 m lange Glasröhre lothrecht an der Wand- befestigt und bei E der Anschlufs mit der Druckleitung der Pumpe bewerkstelligt. Das Druckwasser strömt in das Gehäuse U und drückt auf den im Cylinder B dicht eingeschliffenen Kolben A, welcher oben einen gröfseren hohlen Kolben C trägt, der in dem Cylinder D dicht eingeschliffen sich bewegen kann. Der hohle Kolben C wird mit Blei oder dergleichen in dem Mafse beschwert, dafs das Gesammtgewicht beider Kolben gleich ist dem auf die untere Kolbenfläche wirkenden Wassersäulendruck, wenn die Wassersäule in der Druckleitung eben bis zur Sohle des Hochbehälters angelangt ist. Hierauf wird bei abgenommener Glasröhre der leere Raum O des oberen Cylinders, welcher gleich ist dem Inhalt der Glasröhre, mit Wasser bis zum Ueberlaufen bei der Stopfbüchse aufgefüllt; dieser Wasserstand entspricht dem Nullpunkt der eingetheilten Glasröhre oder der Sohle des Hochreservoirs.The water level indicator is placed on the floor of the pump house close to the wall, the approx. 3 m long glass tube is fixed perpendicular to the wall and at E the connection is made with the pressure line of the pump.
