Removal and recovery of carbon monoxide from gas mixtures For removal
hydrochloric acid or hydrochloric acid were used to prepare carbon dioxide from gas mixtures and to make it pure
ammoniacal solutions or suspensions of copper chloride are used. As the technical
Use of hydrochloric acid-copper chloride solution makes apparatus difficult,
on the other hand, the use of ammoniacal solutions in those cases where in operation
no ammonia is processed, leading to ammonia losses, it has recently been proposed that
Solutions or suspensions of copper oxide or cuprous sulfate in sulfuric acid of
changing concentration for the removal and recovery of carbon monoxide from gas mixtures
to use. In this work it was found that the carbon dioxide tension is such
Sulfuric acid copper oxide mixtures are the lower, the higher the concentration
which is sulfuric acid. The reverse is of course the re-elimination of the carbon monoxide
from the resulting copper oxide - sulfuric acid - carbon oxide complex compounds
the more difficult the lower the carbon dioxide tension. That's why you have to go to the
Reaction mixtures containing concentrated sulfuric acid exceed the temperature
Increase roo ° C in order to ensure good and rapid decomposition of the carbon oxide complex
reach. On the one hand, however, there is thermal cleavage of the cuprous sulfate
one in metallic copper and cupric sulphate, on the other hand the cuprous sulphate or
the metallic copper is also oxidized to cupric acid by the sulfuric acid, whereby
of course the equivalent amount of sulphurous acid is produced.
Reduktion in S02 auftreten, belastet. The cleavage of the carbon oxide complex can be made much easier,
if the sulfuric acid is diluted, the carbon dioxide expansion increases with the
Degrees of dilution. If one carries out the procedure in this way, one is
forced to concentrate the sulfuric acid again after each carbon oxide abortion,
but when approaching the high sulfuric acid concentration favorable for carbon dioxide absorption
the action of the acid on the cuprous sulfate or the metallic copper present
also begins. The production of carbon dioxide is therefore included in this process
the concentration costs of sulfuric acid and the losses caused by this
Reduction occur in S02, burdened.
It has been found that the difficulties and disadvantages of the above
The method described does not appear when one uses copper oxide or its compounds
if necessary also dissolves copper oxide and metallic copper in phosphoric acid
or suspended.
Trägt man z. B. Cuprooxyd in technisch konzentrierte Phosphorsäure
zum Stillstand gekommen ist, kann man es aus dem Reaktionsgemisch wieder abtreiben;
If you wear z. B. Cuprooxide in technically concentrated phosphoric acid
of about 87 ° / p, a part of the oxide dissolves when heated, while:
another part remains unresolved. This reaction mixture eagerly takes carbon monoxide
on, with an increase in temperature, in part probably because of the decrease in
Viscosity of the
Phosphoric acid, is beneficial. Once the carbon dioxide absorption
has come to a standstill, it can be driven off again from the reaction mixture;
the temperature must be increased to over 100 °. With this thermal fission
of the cuprocarbon oxide complex, a precipitation of metallic copper is observed.
Nevertheless, there is an effect on the phosphoric acid, which under -reduction to phosphorus
Acid or other reduction products of phosphoric acid cannot be detected.
The reaction mixture, freed from carbon monoxide, is after cooling
directly usable again for the absorption of carbon monoxide. Instead of cuprooxide or
Compounds of the same can also be copper oxide or compounds of the same and metallic
Copper can be entered into the phosphoric acid.
