Nach dem Aufdrehen des Wasserhahnes setzt das Leitungswasser die Turbine in Drehung; der elektrische Strom wird durch den Generator erzeugt und das Wasser wird erhitzt. Genügt der Wärmegrad des Wassers für einen besonderen Zweck nicht, so läßt man einen Teil des von der Turbine abfließenden Wassers durch Öffnen des Hahnes io kalt ablaufen.
