Umlaufender-Kommutator zur Unterbrechung elektrischer Ströme, dessen Bürsten aus mehreren voneinander isolierten Einzelbürsten bestehen Es ist bekannt, daß man einen Wechselstrom aus einem Gleichstrom erzeugen kann, indem man diesen beispielsweise durch einen Unterbrecher (Pendelumformer oder mittels eines sich drehenden Kollektors mit darauf schleifender Bürste periodisch schließt und öffnet und auf einen sekundären Kreis wirken läßt. Im letzteren Fall bei Verwendung eines sich drehenden Kollektors ist die Frequenz gegeben durch die Umdrehungszahl und die Kollektorlamellenzahl. Die Bürstenbreite wird dann meist gleich der Lamellenbreite gemacht und gewöhnlich ist auch die Isolationsdicke zwischen den einzelnen Lamellen gleich der Lamellenstärke.. Eine derartige Bürste läuft aber bekanntlich sehr schlecht und neigt zur Funkenbildung, da sie dauernd infolge der verschiedenen Kollektoroberflächen vibriert. Die Oberfläche eines Kollektors kann trotz Abschleifens nicht vollkommen glatt hergestellt werden, da das Isolationsmaterial eine andere Härte als das Metall besitzt. Es treten also immer Unebenheiten zwischen Lamelle und Isolation auf. Diese Unebenheiten werden im allgemeinen dadurch beseitigt, daß man das Isolationsmaterial zwischen den Lamellen an der Oberfläche etwas auskratzt. Das läßt sich aber nur dann durchführen, wenn die Bürsten zu gleicher Zeit mehrere Lamellen überdecken.
