Der Wasserdampf wird in einem Raum zwischen Vorwärmofen und Glühofen durch Kondensation oder Absorption beseitigt, so daß das Band vollständig trocken in den Ofen gelangt: In der Abbildung ist ein Ausführungsbeispiel des den Gegenstand der Erfindung bildenden Blankglühofens dargestellt. Das zu glühende Band a wird über eine Rolle b im Wasserbad c geführt und gelangt von dort in das Rohr d, das unter Wasser in das Wasserbad mündet. Das Band wird dann über Gummirollen e geführt, die das überschüssige Wasser abquetschen, und gelangt dann in den Vorwärmer t. Hier wird das Band auf eine etwas über i oo° liegende Temperatur erwärmt und das Wasser verdampft. Der Wasserdampf gelangt in den Kondensator g mit der Kühlschlange h und wird in dem Kondensator niedergeschlagen. Das niedergeschlagene Wasser tritt in das Gefäß i über.
