The invention
concerns the design and arrangement of the spring layers in multi-layer jacket springs,
made up of several cylindrical or conical layers slit lengthways
exist on which the forces act in the radial direction. From the previously known
Sheath springs differs from the present invention in that to achieve
the same material stress the thicknesses of the outer layers are graded and
that in order to achieve an arbitrarily concave course of the Dx-ckschau-line the outer layers
are nested with clearance, with the choice of clearance between
the shell layers can also be made so that the material thickness and the material stress
are the same in all positions.

Belastung Q _-_ bedeuten. Faßt man beide Erfindungsgedanken zusammen, so ergibt
Fig.r shows the cross-section of a cylindrical or conical jacket spring with graduated leaf thicknesses, Fig.a the cross-section of a cylindrical or conical jacket spring, in which the layers are nested with clearance, and Fig.b. . 3, the pressure acting line of a jacket spring according to Figure a @.-.- h denotes the sheet thickness, r the average radius, D is the average diameter, hb, the material stress, E is the modulus of elasticity and f is the bending of a casing layer, the result is: where l - D #; r, or 7r . ICb is Consideration In the known designs, the sheet thicknesses are the same in all layers and are close to one another, so they are always unevenly stressed. In the embodiment according to Fig. Z, the same material stress takes place in all jacket layers, which is desirable for reasons of economy and the best possible use of space. It will then in which tonst. ie the gradation of the jacket thickness must be proportionate take place, so If, as usual, according to Fig. F, the jacket layers lie close to one another without any clearance in the originally tensioned state, then with the loading by Q - the deflection f is the same for all layers. It is then h - Dz - tonst., In which is, and the sheet thicknesses must be graded according to the equation: = D i : Ds . h Fig. z shows the cross-section of a jacket spring, which fundamentally differs in its mode of operation from the known designs. In the previously known mantle springs, the individual leaf layers lie close to one another in the originally tensioned state, i.e. the pressure line of the spring is straight. However, it is often such. B. in railroad car buffers, it is very desirable that the suspension is "soft" at the beginning to absorb light impacts and the suspension is "harder" towards the end of the stroke, ie the ratio of the load to the stroke is initially small and becomes smaller as it continues Load on the spring greater; so that the ideal pressure line shows a strongly concave course for operation. The purpose is achieved according to the present invention in that the jackets are nested with clearance. Fig.3 shows the stepwise composite pressure line of a spring according to Fig. ,, and that are in it, without the occurring friction where Ti, TZ and T3 mean the tangential forces of the layers, caused by the radial load Q _-_. If one summarizes both ideas of the invention, then there is a special case of a jacket spring construction, where the log thicknesses and the material stress are the same in all layers.

From the formula results when la and hb - tonst. are, DZ - f # tonst., ie for this special case, which is ideal for economic, operational and manufacturing reasons, the condition must be fulfilled: The equations also apply accordingly to jacket springs that are stressed from the inside.
