Description

Loose made from diatomite and fibers such as asbestos Filling compound for storing explosive gases such as acetylene and the like relates to a loose filling compound for storing explosive gases such as acetylene and the like and a method of accumulating such gases using them Filling compound made from diatomaceous earth with a small amount of fibrous material such as asbestos, consists. The aim of the invention is to remove cavities in the filling compound to avoid during the transport of the containers.

It is known to be porous, granular as a filling compound for acetylene bottles or fibrous materials such as charcoal, asbestos and the like, to be used for the complete Filling the spaces with a porous, heat-resistant material, e.g. B. Kieselguhr, are interspersed. In contrast, in the present invention, the main mass which is characterized by its good properties as an explosion-proof material Diatomaceous earth is used, in the form of a loosely poured filler mass, the In small amounts, a fiber such as asbestos o. The like. Is added so that the Main mass of diatomaceous earth compressed enough after filling irr the container «-Be able to a priori the possibility of the formation of dangerous gaps turn off. It has been shown that diatomite alone is not perfect can be pressed together tightly. By adding a fiber, on the other hand, the Diatomaceous earth prepared in such a way that it can be pressed together tightly and that for the present purpose is given the desired tight storage. The invention is thus the use of the per se as an additive to filling compounds for the storage of acetylene known kieselguhr as the main mass.

According to the invention, the kieselguhr is used in small amounts (about ro to 2o percent) of a fibrous material, such as asbestos or cellulose fiber, without additives interspersed with a binder. The packing up of the mass' becomes, as has been shown has made it easier by moistening the kieselguhr, which is useful for moistening the acetone later required to absorb the acetylene gas is used. This moistening can be carried out before or after the mass is introduced into the container will. If water is used for moistening, the mass must be packed up be dried in the container.
