Description
The invention relates to the use of used DeNO x or modified used DeNO x catalysts in a process for reducing the emission of incomplete combustion of organochlorine products in exhaust gases from combustion plants by treatment of exhaust gases containing organochlorine products, in particular of exhaust gases containing polyhalogenated dibenzodioxins and polyhalogenated benzofurans at a temperature of 150 to 500 ° C under oxidative conditions.
A part these PIC's are organohalogen compounds (chlorobenzenes, chlorine phenols, polychlorinated biphenyls, polyhalogenated (chlorine, bromine) Dibenzodioxins and dibenzofurans etc.). These connections are toxic, are extremely difficult to break down and burden hence the environment, with fear of late damage in particular are. Here comes the polyhalogenated dibenzodioxins and Dibenzofurans (hereinafter summarized and briefly as "Dioxins" refers to potential health risk of emissions from incinerators a special one Meaning too.
From PCT application EP 90/01695 it is already known that there is a reduction in the emission of organochlorine products from incomplete combustion, in particular halogenated aromatic compounds, e.g. B. chlorobenzenes, chlorophenols, polychlorinated biphenyls, polyhalogenated (especially polychlorinated and polybrominated) dibenzodioxins and dibenzofurans, halogenated aliphatic compounds, eg. B. tri- and tetra chloroethane, hexachlorocyclohexane, etc., especially in exhaust gases from combustion plants, in particular waste and waste incineration plants, achieved when the exhaust gas containing the chloroorganic products at a temperature of 150 to 500 ° C under oxidative conditions in the presence of a Treated DeNO x catalyst or a modified DeNO x catalyst.
DeNO x catalysts have been known for a long time and are used for the catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides NO x with ammonia in nitric acid plants and large combustion plants. The DeNO x catalysts and their production are described, for example, in VDI Report No. 730, 1989, pages 121 to 156, and in DE-OS 34 33 197, 34 38 367 and 35 31 810 and US Pat. No. 4 085 193 and 4 378 338. Reference is hereby made in full to these publications and the literature citations listed therein.
In particular, DeNO x catalysts of the titanium oxide type, iron oxide or zeolite type, which may contain conventional donors, come into consideration. Titanium oxide catalysts are preferred, in particular those with a titanium oxide content of 70% by weight, based on the total weight of the catalyst.
It has now been found that used DeNO x catalysts, ie exhausted for denitrification, are still well suited for the oxidative destruction of halogenated aromatic compounds.
Accordingly, the invention relates to the use of conventional DeNO x catalysts deactivated with regard to NO x reduction, for the removal of halogenated aromatic compounds in exhaust gases under the conditions of the process of PCT application EP 90/01685, to which reference is hereby made.
Around 33,000 m³ of DeNO x catalyst volume are currently installed in power plants in the Federal Republic. The replacement requirement is estimated at around 4000 m³ annually. A corresponding amount of the activated old catalysts must be disposed of, because material recycling is currently not possible, apart from a melting process for the production of a slag, which can possibly be used as road building material.
The old catalysts can either be used directly or used after pretreatment. Depending on the task and condition of the old catalytic converter, the catalytic converter can be washed, etched or sandblasted. The old catalyst can also be comminuted with the purpose of using it, for example, as a packed bed, fluidized bed or filter auxiliary layer catalyst. The shredded old catalytic converter can also be used as a raw material for the production of new - less active - honeycomb bodies. The shredding increases the specific DeNO x activity again because less poisoned material is exposed, but the original specific activity is not achieved again.
In particular, honeycomb catalysts come into consideration, e.g. B. those of titanium dioxide type, iron oxide type or zeolite type. As donors such. B. tungsten oxide, molybdenum oxide and / or To call vanadium oxide.
