Abstract

An electronic control device for a motor vehicle is proposed, which control device has a central means for connection to the electrical system of the vehicle, can be connected to at least one sensor and/or instruction transmitter and at least one actuator and/or one warning device and contains a resident memory. Dies wird dadurch erreicht, daß das Steuer­ gerät über seine Steckverbindung 11 die zu der entspre­ chenden Selektion erforderlichen Informationen vom Fahr­ zeug kodiert einliest. Dazu ist beispielsweise der Gegen­ steckverbinder 11.1 fahrzeug- und/oder ausstattungsspezi­ fisch codiert und der Steckverbinder 11 mit entsprechen­ den Erfassungsmitteln ausgestattet, etwa mit Abfragekon­ takten zur elektrischen Abtastung einer entsprechend ko­ dierten Verschaltung von Programmiergegenkontakten im Ge­ gensteckverbinder 11.1. oder das Steuergerät aktiviert aufgrund einer einfacheren Kodierung ein Programm, mit­ tels dessen es über seine Eingangsleitungen 14a, 14b und Ausgangsleitungen 15a, 15b spezifische Charakteristika der daran angeschlossenen Sensoren bzw. Aktuatoren bzw. Warneinrichtungen einliest, also z. Claims (5)

1. Elektronisches Steuergerät für ein Kraftfahrzeug, welches über ein zentrales Verbindungsmittel mit dem Fahrzeugbordnetz, wenigstens einem Sensor und/oder Be­ fehlsgeber und wenigstens einem Aktuator und/oder einer Warneinrichtung verbindbar ist und einen re­ sidenten Speicher enthält, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
  • - daß das Steuergerät alle Wirkungsfunktionen und Steuercharakteristika, die für eine Vielzahl von unterschiedlichen und/oder unterschiedlich ausgestat­ teten Fahrzeuge erforderlich sind, fest abgespeichert enthält, und
  • - daß das Steueregerät (10) Mittel umfaßt, die es ihm ermöglichen, über das zentrale Verbindungsmittel (11) die Art und/oder Ausstattung des relevanten Fahr­ zeugs zu erkennen und die hierfür aktuell benötigten Wirkungsfunktionen und Steuercharakteristika aus be­ sagtem Speicher (20) auszulesen und zu aktivieren.
