Process for the production of alcohol from sulphite waste liquor. So far the
Production of alcohol via sulphite liquor in such a way that causes the cookers
incoming waste liquor was neutralized and ventilated, whereupon that contained in the same
Sugar types were fermented by adding yeast. This fermented liquor became
then the alcohol is driven off in a column apparatus. Due to the nature
the lye with regard to its content of organic substances, salts and the like
easily caused crust formation on the bottoms of the column apparatus, the blockages
and caused interruptions in work. In addition, both ethyl and
also obtained methyl alcohol in the same distillate.
To avoid these inconveniences, the invention according to the necessary
neutralized lye after it has been used in a manner known per se except for one
evaporated concentration suitable for fermentation and then, if not before,
had happened, neutralized and then fermented in a known manner
is, except for a very high one, for further processing on organic matter
suitable concentration (about 5o percent or more dry matter) evaporated,
whereupon the aqueous alcohol-containing condensate for the purpose of obtaining the ethyl alcohol in
is distilled in a column apparatus.
«-as
Through this procedure it is achieved that the abortion of alcohol
and the fermentation liquor is concentrated in a single operation.
Furthermore, the alcohol content in the distillate, i. H. in the column apparatus
solution to be distilled, increased significantly by adding the distillate to about 5 percent
Ethyl alcohol contains around r percent in the lye. For this reason, the
Distillation in the column apparatus can be carried out much more economically than before.
If one also takes into account that the solution to be distilled is an aqueous one
Solution is that does not cause blockages in the column apparatus, so it is evidently
that the distillation in the column apparatus must be much more economical than before.
In addition, the Ethvlalkohol is practical due to the preparatory concentration
free of methyl alcohol, which is also of the utmost importance because it is difficult
is to separate both alcohols from each other. . As with the pre-concentration during
the abortion of methyl alcohol considerably reduces the volume of the liquor,
significantly smaller fermentation vessels and column apparatus are required than before,
«-As
a significant reduction in: -Assembly and operating costs. Finally
the remaining waste liquor is obtained in a highly concentrated form and for further processing
for example on organic matter of suitable form.
The vapors expelled during the two evaporation can also
the Methvlbz «-. In addition to ethyl alcohol, certain organic acids, such as formic acid
and acetic acid. These acids or one of the same, e.g. B. acetic acid,
are according to the invention from the one or both - evaporation
exhausted vapors obtained by passing these vapors through absorbents,
which can bind the acids, are passed, whereupon Methvl or. Ethyl alcohol
can be obtained from the remaining vapors. The -: absorption occurs
here it is expedient in such a way that formic acid and acetic acid are each used for

which absorbs formic acid, and then by milk of lime which absorbs acetic acid

It is well known that some of the organic acids are in the liquid
bound. It is therefore advantageous to have them at the appropriate time of treatment,
z. B. after fermentation of the liquor to release. This can be done by adding an acid
or an acid salt made to the greatest possible amount of the organic
Obtain acids from the lye.
