Description

Process for utilizing the wastewater from bleaching earth factories u. The industry dealing with the digestion of siliceous earths, especially the bleaching earth factories, causing the removal and rendering harmless the resulting wastewater great difficulties and costs. The sewage persists generally from a mixture of the aluminum, Iron and possibly also magnesium, lime and other salts with free acid residues and water, and they still have strong chemical energies that were previously at cost must be destroyed.

The above procedure aims to make it usable. try have shown that this can easily be achieved by bringing in wood waste Kind (shavings, sawdust, etc.), also of peat or sulphite cellulose in that of the digested soil separate sewage or in the mixture of digested Earth and sewage with subsequent boiling possibly at elevated temperature and appropriate pressure. The mixture turns into large amounts of methyl alcohol and valuable acetic acid free under simultaneous pressure and temperature dependent more or less complete charring of the organic substances. While the former represent valuable by-products, the resulting coal can either be used as an absorption mass or can be used as heating fuel. The latter is the more advantageous when the Waste water must be separated from the clay before the organic substances are introduced. Otherwise, clay and coal are washed out together, ground and used as bleaching earth recovered.

PATENT-ANSPRU CH: Verfahren zur Nutzbarmachung der Abwässer der Bleicherdefabriken und verwandter Industrien, die sich mit dem Aufschluß kieselsäurehaltiger Erden befassen, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß entweder in das Gemisch aus aufgeschlossenemTon oder Erde mit dem Abwasser oder in die von den Erden vorher getrennten Abwässer organische Substanzen, wie Holzabfälle jeder Art oder Torf oder Sulfitcellulose u. dgl., eingebracht werden und einer Kochung eventuell bei erhöhtem Druck und entsprechenderTemperatur unterworfenwerden, wobei große Mengen hochwertiger Essigsäure und Methylalkohol frei werden und die organische Substanz zu Kohle abgebaut wird, die ihrerseits entweder als Absorptionsmasse oder als Brennstoff Verwertung findet.PATENT CLAIM: Process for utilizing the waste water from the bleaching earth factories and allied industries dealing with siliceous earth digestion deal, characterized in that either in the mixture of digested clay or earth with the sewage or in the sewage previously separated from the earth organic substances such as wood waste of any kind or peat or sulphite cellulose and the like, and possibly boiling at elevated pressure and temperature being subjected to large amounts of high quality acetic acid and methyl alcohol become free and the organic matter is broken down into coal, which in turn either is used as absorption mass or as fuel.
