Device for starting motors with short-circuit armature. In the patent
383693 describes a method for starting engines with short-circuit armatures,
in which an auxiliary winding is used for start-up, which is used for a different number of poles
is wound than the operating winding. In the event that this auxiliary winding: a
has a smaller number of poles than the operating winding, is in the patent 383693
Series connection of the two windings suggested during start-up.
According to the present invention, the patent specification 383693

When starting to operate, an interruption in the motor circuit can be avoided.
In the start-up circuit, the motor then adopts a speed that is the same as with a low torque
slightly above, b.-i high torque slightly below the synchronous speed of the starting winding
lies. If the starting winding is then short-circuited, the motor runs up to the
Near the synchronous speed up. The advantage over the method according to the
38369; lies in the fact that the starting current is lower for the same torque
is. If the starting pole number differs significantly from the operating pole number, like it
is usually the case with high-speed machines, but one obtains after the
new process in the transition from the start-up to the operating circuit a relatively
large power disruption. In order to suppress this as much as possible, two auxiliary windings should start up
Find use, one of which has a larger, the other a smaller number of poles
has as the operational winding. The motor runs in series with the three windings
and reaches a speed that is close to the synchronous speed of the starting winding
larger number of poles. This winding is then short-circuited, whereupon the motor
runs up to the vicinity of the synchronous speed of the operating winding. In the end
the starting winding with a smaller number of poles is also short-circuited, so that the
Operating winding is switched on alone. This circuit can still be changed
that during the first part of the start-up period also the operating winding
is short-circuited, i.e. the two:%. start-up windings alone are effective.
