Abstract

A gauging-stop used when bevelling the edges of rectangular material (A) of variable thickness (S2) by a circular saw (B) has an arm (1) and locking mechanism which moves horizontally in guide-rails (7) which carry a calibrated scale (2). At right angles to the arm (1), a lockable (5) slider (4) carries a gauge-probe (6) profiled to the required bevel angle. After cutting the first bevel, the gauge-probe (6) is positioned to coincide with this edge in both X and Y directions and the necessary relative movement between the saw (B) and material (A) to provide a specified inner dimension (L1) set via the scale (2). The second bevel is then cut after angling the saw blade (B) through 90 deg. for the 45 deg. bevel shown. USE/ADVANTAGE - Enables material of different thickness to be bevelled to constant inner dimension using single calibrated setting of arm in X direction since gauge-plate moves only in direction of bevel angle thereby eliminating effect of Y direction thickness and allowing use of calibrated X scale. Bevel angle can be varied by changing profile of gauge-plate and angle saw blade to suit.
