Die Innenverzahnung des Kolbens kämmt mit einer festangebrachten Außenverzahnung und beschreibt dadurch eine drehend-exzentrische Bewegung.
Der Kolben läuft in einem trochoidenförmigen, geschlossenen Gehäuse, an dem vier Öffnungen angebracht sind. (A, B, C, D, siehe Zeichnung)
Um die Pumpe im Rechts- oder Linkslauf betreiben zu können, müssen vier weitere, an der Längsachse gespiegelte Öffnungen angebracht werden.
In diesem Fall müssen je nach Laufrichtung vier Öffnungen geschlossen werden.
Möglich ist auch der Betrieb mit nur einer Einlaß- und einer Auslaßöffnung auf einer Ebene, wobei der ungenutzte Teil der Pumpe mit Öffnungen versehen werden muß, um dort Druckunterschiede zu vermeiden.
