Description
Pretreatment of synthetic fibers for the spinning process. It is known, that synthetic fibers, e.g. B. viscose fibers, the so-called melts, as these with water are more or less swellable, do not absorb water evenly, causing disruptions are caused in the spinning process.
It has been shown that these unfavorable conditions can be avoided can, if the fiber is given a certain amount of water in the last stage of its manufacture Adding solutions or emulsions to bodies that have a similar beneficial effect exercise on the fiber during the spinning process without sticking the fiber masses respectively.
Polyhydric alcohols such as glycerine, ethylene glycol, types of sugar, in conjunction with weak, as neutral as possible, soap solutions have proven to be particularly suitable bodies of this type. In order to equip the fiber with it, it is only necessary to treat the still moist fiber masses for some time with a solution of these bodies in water before the final drying, the aqueous solutions must be chosen so concentrated that the intended content of the bodies mentioned finally remains on the fiber. The treatment of the fiber takes place after the end of coagulation and the subsequent aftertreatment, namely before the final drying. Example. Fibers that are obtained from unripened alkali cellulose in a thickness of z to 3 deniers using unripened viscose are thoroughly saturated with a solution of 0.7 percent glycerine and 0.1 percent soap in water and then dried. With suitable treatment, the fiber mass falls apart easily and can easily be taken to the preparation machines for the spinning process.
