Das dargestellte Lager gestattet, eine Maschinenwelle nach Verschleifs der Lagerschalen wieder genau in ihre ursprüngliche Lage zu bringen. Sind die vier gleichen Lagerschalen so weit verschlissen, dafs es einer Nachstellung bedarf, so werden zuerst die Preisschrauben ο ο gelöst, darauf werden die unteren Lagerschalen α Λ so lange vermöge der Druckplatten d und der Stellschrauben u nachgestellt, bis die Welle wieder ihre ursprüngliche Lage eingenommen hat; alsdann werden die Lagerdeckelschrauben s s nachgeschraubt, bis auch die oberen Lagerschalen wieder durch den Lagerdeckel gegen die Welle gedrückt werden, worauf dann schliefslich das Prefsstück ρ durch die Preisschrauben ο wieder fest gegen die oberen Lagerschalen geprefst wird. Nach jeder Verstellung der Lagerschalen werden durch die Keilstücke kkk und durch das Prefsstückp, da durch letzteres die Preisschrauben ο fest gegen die oberen Lagerschalen geprefst werden, die vier Lagerschalen derart verbunden, dafs jede Verdrehung derselben ausgeschlossen ist, wodurch ein Kneifen der einzelnen Lagerschalen vermieden wird. Die Keilstücke kkk behalten stets ihre ursprüngliche Lage; ebenso nimmt auch das Prefsstück ρ nach jeder Verstellung seine ursprüngliche Lage wieder ein. Das Eigenthümliche der Anordnung besteht darin, dafs, obgleich die Keilstücke kkk und das Prefsstück ρ die beständig gleichen Zwischenstücke zwischen den einzelnen Lagerschalen bilden, wodurch dieselben gleichsam zu einem Ganzen verbunden werden, doch die unteren Lagerschalen α α jede für sich, die oberen b b gemeinsam nach der Mittellinie der Welle hin nachgestellt werden können.The bearing shown allows a machine shaft to be brought back exactly into its original position after the bearing shells have worn out.
