Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for speed control a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine according to the Oberbe handle of claim 1.
From DE-OS 41 21 242 it is known that - starting from a signal which corresponds to a cylinder of the internal combustion engine associated with the machine - an injection into the cylinder the characteristic parameters based on recorded quantities be is calculated. Based on this calculated parameter an injection signal is generated with which the combustion Solenoid valve assigned to the chamber of the cylinder becomes.
The invention has for its object the known To improve the process so that the speed The internal combustion engine runs smoothly machine is reached.
A method known from the prior art for controlling the speed of a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine, wherein, starting from a signal which is assigned to a cylinder of the internal combustion engine, a parameter characterizing the injection into the cylinder, in particular an injection start and an injection duration, are calculated on the basis of variables recorded by hand and on the basis of the calculated parameter, an injection signal is generated, with which a solenoid valve executing the injection into the combustion chamber of the cylinder is controlled, is improved in that, after the start of the internal combustion engine, the speed is adjusted to a basic speed, after calculating the first Both parameters the parameter currently to be calculated is influenced by a calculated parameter. In the analysis of injection processes on internal combustion engines, it has been found that the injection processes in the individual cylinders of the internal combustion engine influence time intervals between at least two of the signals assigned to the cylinders, the time intervals being used in addition to other variables for calculating the speed. Especially after the start of the internal combustion engine, it is therefore advantageous that the speed is calculated for such a time interval and adjusted to a predeterminable basic speed. This regulation has the advantage that the basic speed, which can be, for example, the idling speed or a prespecific value, is quickly reached. For this purpose, after the calculation of the first two parameters, the parameter currently to be calculated (for example the third parameter) is influenced by a parameter that has already been calculated (in particular by the first parameter). This takes place, for example, in the manner in which it is shown in the description of FIG. 1. The parameters are based on the operating parameters of the internal combustion engine (load, the calculated speed, temperatures, pressures, power requirement, supply voltage and other operating parameters) and the environmental parameters of the internal combustion engine. Further refinements of the invention are specified in the subclaims.
Es zeigt:The method according to the invention is described below an embodiment with reference to the Figu ren described in more detail. It shows:

Fig. 1 shows a time line diagram for adjusting a base speed. The method according to the invention is shown in the figures using a six-cylinder internal combustion engine, which, however, does not limit the application, since the method is generally applicable to a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine. Fig. 1a illustrates signals 1 to 6, which are assigned to the individual cylinders of the internal combustion engine. These signals are triggered, for example, by markings which are attached to a camshaft of the internal combustion engine and represent in particular the ignition TDC of each cylinder. Alternatively, markings on a crankshaft of the internal combustion engine are also conceivable, an additional marking then being used to identify a certain cylinder is required. Starting from the signal 4 , a parameter P4 is calculated (shown in FIG. 1b), which generates the injection signal E5 shown in FIG. 1c into the cylinder 5 of the internal combustion engine (step A). The injection signal E5 includes the start of injection and the injection duration for the cylinder 5 and leads to a combustion in this cylinder, which affects a time interval t 6 (step B). After calculation of the parameter P4, the parameter P6 currently to be calculated is influenced by the parameter P4 (step C) to influence the time interval t 6 . An injection signal E1 (step D) for the cylinder 1 of the internal combustion engine is generated from the parameter P6, which takes into account the calculated parameter P4, the speed averaged over at least one cycle, and other currently recorded operating variables on the internal combustion engine. This procedure is carried out for each cycle (revolution) and also across cycles, so that after calculation of a parameter all subsequent parameters to be calculated are influenced at least depending on a previously calculated parameter for regulating the speed. A cycle m is, for example, the time range in which the signals assigned to the cylinders (signals 1 to 6 in this example) occur once. The injection signal E5 generated from the parameter P4 and shown in FIG. 1c influences the time interval t 6 measured across cycles, which is used in the calculation of the parameter P6 of the following cycle (cycle m + 1) to determine the average speed. The average speed is calculated by multiplying the number of cylinders of the internal combustion engine, the time interval measured each time and a conversion factor and relating them to one cycle. The measurement of a time interval and the resultant calculation of the speed is not limited to a single cycle. The use of more than one cycle is conceivable here. The speed of the internal combustion engine is adjusted to a basic speed by varying the injection (changing the start of injection and injection duration). This basic speed is predefined (for example idling speed) or can be specified as a function of at least one size of the internal combustion engine. For example, it is conceivable that the basic speed of a cold internal combustion engine is comparatively higher than that of a warm internal combustion engine.
Fig. 2 shows the time line diagram for adjusting a base speed after the start of the internal combustion engine. After the start of the internal combustion engine (represented by the vertical dashed line) - starting from signal 1 - a parameter P1 is calculated (shown in FIG. 2b), which generates the injection signal E2 shown in FIG. 2c for cylinder 2 of the internal combustion engine (Step a). The injection signal E2 contains the start of injection and the injection duration for the cylinder 2 and leads to a combustion in this cylinder, which affects a time interval t 2 (step b). After calculating the first two parameters P1 and P2, the parameter P3 currently to be calculated is influenced by the parameter P1 (step c) in order to influence the time interval t 2 . An injection signal E4 (step d) for the cylinder 4 of the internal combustion engine is generated from the parameter P3, which takes into account the calculated parameter P1 and other currently recorded operating variables on the internal combustion engine. This procedure takes place for each cycle (revolution) and also across cycles, so that after the start of the internal combustion engine according to the second calculated parameter P2, all of the following parameters to be calculated are influenced at least in dependence on a previously calculated parameter for regulating the speed .
Fig. 3 shows time line diagrams for describing the inventive method after adjusting the basic speed. As soon as the specified or predeterminable value for the basic speed (for example idling speed) is reached, a cylinder-specific speed is calculated for each cylinder of the internal combustion engine from the time difference between two successive signals. These time intervals used for the speed calculation are shown in FIG. 3a and denoted by t 1 * to t 6 *. For example, a cylinder-specific speed is calculated from the time interval t 3 *, which is taken into account in the calculation for parameter P3. As already shown in FIG. 1, a cylinder-specific parameter is also calculated in FIG. 3 on the basis of the signals ( 1 to 6 ) assigned to the cylinders ( FIG. 3b), from which an injection signal is derived. The calculated parameter contains information about the start of injection and duration of injection (or end of injection). For example, the parameter P1 shown in FIG. 3b is calculated from the signal 1 shown in FIG. 3a, from which the injection signal E2 shown in FIG. 3c (step F) is derived. The combustion caused by the injection signal E2 leads to an acceleration, for example, of the short shaft, which affects the speed and thus the time interval t 3 * (step G). The time interval t 3 * influenced in this way is then used in the calculation for parameter P3 to calculate a cylinder-specific speed (step H). In a special embodiment of the invention, the currently calculated speed is used to influence the injection, which follows a cycle later on the calculated parameter, which is two signals before the currently calculated parameter, the signals assigned to the cylinders being assigned once in each cycle occur. This procedure ensures smooth running of the internal combustion engine, which is to be seen as an advantage essential to the invention. As already mentioned, the injection E2 results in influencing the time interval t 3 * (step G), with this time interval t 3 * (difference between the two successive signals 2 and 3 , in particular the time difference of the successive signal starts) in Parameter P3 (during the cycle m *) a cylinder-specific speed (step H) is calculated. This cylinder-specific speed calculated during the cycle m * in parameter P3 is used to influence the calculation for parameter P1 that takes place one cycle later (cycle m * + 1), which is also identified in FIG. 3b with P1. The cylinder-specific speed calculated in parameter P3 is then taken into account in the next calculation of parameter P1 in the next cycle. This happens, for example, in such a way that a difference between the cylinder-specific speed calculated from the time interval t 3 * and the speed (target speed), which is taken into account one cycle later in the calculation of the parameter P1, is corrected in such a way that by influencing the parameters or respectively the injection signals this difference is minimized. This is done, for example, by moving the start of injection or changing the injection duration. The inventive calculation and influencing of the parameters, as it was described in the previous de, takes place in an analogous manner for each cylinder of the internal combustion engine. In an advantageous manner, the calculation and influencing is carried out until the cylinder-specific speeds, which were calculated from the individual time intervals according to FIG. 3, lie within predefinable limit values. As an optimum of the regulation, whereby in particular PI or PID controllers can be used for regulation, the aim is that the individual time intervals become the same (depending on the prevailing operating conditions). In addition, it is possible that the calculation and influencing is carried out until the basic speed leaves a permissible value range. This can be given by an external influence (for example, load on the internal combustion engine or deliberate performance requirement). In addition, unacceptable cylinder-specific speeds can be detected and stored for later diagnosis of the internal combustion engine. Furthermore, it is conceivable to check all detected and calculated variables and parameters for plausibility, so that variables or parameters that lie outside of predefinable value ranges can be corrected and do not lead to an undesired event. The detection and storage of impermissible cylinder-specific speeds can then be used for needs-based and cost-effective maintenance of the internal combustion engine.
The parameters and injection signals shown in the figures are of the same length for the sake of a better overview. However, the time lengths, in particular of the injection signals, depend on the corresponding operating parameters and can therefore be different. The start of the internal combustion engine shown in FIG. 2 can begin with any signal shown in FIG. 2a. It should be pointed out again that the signals triggered by the cylinders and the injection signals are real signals and the parameters are symbolic signals. The parameters are essentially data which contain information (for example in numerical form) at least about the start of injection and the duration of injection.
